This press release is an official disclaimer from the Government of Rivers State of Nigeria, issued by the Judicial Service Commission on 14th April, 2025, and signed by Blessings Vic-Jumbo, Esq., Ag. Secretary and it addresses the alleged resignation of Ejike .K. George Esq.
Social media reports claimed that Ejike King George, Esq., a retired Chief Magistrate, voluntarily retired due to a "quasi-military administration" taking over in Rivers State but the press release says that Ejike K. George was compulsorily retired (not voluntarily) effective 10th February, 2025 because of Continuous absence from duty without leave from 25th August, 2023 to December, 2024.
A disciplinary panel reviewed the case, found him wanting, and recommended retirement.
He was given a chance to retire voluntarily but failed to do so, leading to compulsory retirement.
The Commission states that his retirement is unrelated to any political situation in the state.
They describe Ejike's claim as a "contrived falsehood" and a "mischievous action" to gain public sympathy and support.
The public is advised to disregard the misleading claims and be properly guided.
King George reacting to the disclaimer, dismissed the allegations of misconduct as a misrepresentation of facts and suggested that political motives were behind his removal
