The President, who met with security chiefs at the State House in Abuja for more than two hours, said the killing of innocent people in Borno, Benue and Plateau States must cease.
"Enough is enough," President Tinubu declared as he once again condemned the senseless targeting of innocent Nigerians.
The National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, told newsmen that the service chiefs briefed the President on all the attacks in the states, the death toll, and the destruction of properties.
The NSA said President Tinubu ordered a new approach to tackling the insecurity problems.
Ribadu noted that President Tinubu was also actively monitoring and giving instructions during his work visit to Paris and London.
"Mr President gave us the chance to come and brief him again. It lasted very long. We gave him an update on what was going on.
"Even when he was out there, he was constantly in touch, giving directives and following developments.
"Today, we had the opportunity to come and brief him again, and it lasted hours. It was a very detailed briefing, and it was exhaustive.
"We listened, and we took instructions from him. He gave us new directives. The fact is that Mr President is insisting that we work harder to restore security in the country.
"We gave him information on what has been happening and assured him of our commitment.
"We had carried out his instructions. We went to places with incidences of insecurity, such as Plateau, Benue, and Borno States.
"We went to those particular three states. We gave him feedback because he had directed us earlier to go and meet with the political authorities there," he added.
The NSA said the President highlighted the need to involve the local councils and state governments more in tackling insecurity cases.
"The issue of insecurity often is not just at the higher levels. It involves the subunits. They are the ones who are directly with the people, especially when some of the challenges border on community problems.
"We need to work with the communities. We need to work with the local governments, and we need to work with the governors.
"The President directed that we work more with governors," he said.
Ribadu noted that the President was "very worried and concerned" at the meeting.
"He said, 'Enough is enough'. We are working to ensure that we restore peace and security. We were all at the meeting with the President, armed forces, police, and intelligence community."
The NSA said the attackers usually target innocent citizens by planting Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and targeting ungoverned areas.

ReplyDeletePeople are dieing everyday like chicken ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
Seyi don de “tell your papa”
DeleteEnough is enough...All words no actions...You have heads of intelligence yet such carnage and bloodletting was allowed and they still hold on to their positions & very tight...
ReplyDeleteThey can't act until they are directed...We are not serious at all...
Enough is Enough yet people are dying everyday. Mr President has not said anything about the killings! What is to be done. After briefing what should follow up is action. What is their response? What action should be taken. What are the consequences of kidnapping and killing fellow Nigerians! Hmmmm.
ReplyDeleteNigerians need to echo. With the right leadership, accountability, and investment in modern security architecture, Nigeria can become a fortress against internal and external threats.
ReplyDeleteThe issue of border insecurity in Nigeria is a serious one, and the consequences especially in terms of loss of lives are heartbreaking and unacceptable.
Border Security & Revamp:
Strengthening Nigeria’s borders is long overdue. A country as vast and strategically located as Nigeria needs not just physical patrols, but smart border solutions—drones, surveillance towers, motion sensors, biometric scanners, and satellite monitoring. Without these, porous borders will continue to enable arms smuggling, illegal migration, and movement of terrorists.
Resource Mismanagement:
Nigeria does have the resources. The problem often lies in poor prioritization, lack of transparency, and mismanagement. If just a fraction of the budget misused annually was channeled into high-tech security infrastructure, the situation would be vastly different.
24-Hour Surveillance:
Continuous monitoring, especially in forested and remote areas, is now a global standard in countries dealing with similar threats. Nigeria could adopt real-time air surveillance with drones, deploy rapid response units, and use geospatial intelligence to track criminal activity before it happens.
Lagging Behind in Tech:
True again. While other nations are deploying AI-driven facial recognition, predictive policing, and integrated command centers, Nigeria still struggles with radio communication and basic data sharing among security agencies.
The senseless killings should stop already .ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
ReplyDeleteYimu 🙄
ReplyDeleteHe is always taking, no action
This is what we hear everyday.
ReplyDeleteWhat measures are in place?
Dey play! Insecurity will never stop in Nigeria until the punishment dreadful. The only punishment that can deter these killers is instant death.
ReplyDeleteAt the moment they know that if arrested, they can bribe Nigeria police with their loots and escape judgement. Untill then, story, story, story! Once upon a time, time, time
Well written anon 11:27, they should start sentencing armed robbers, kidnappers, and bandits to death, and the death warrants should be signed immediately, you will see that all these things will reduce if not stopped.
DeleteOnly capital punishment will stop kidnapping and bandits attacks in this country. The blood shed is too much. The country can not move forward because the blood of these victims is crying from for vengeance...
ReplyDeleteMy president, pls we need to see action and results, not spoken words
