Bolaji, who lived in Norristown, Pennsylvania, was on duty around 2 a.m. on Wednesday when he picked up a passenger, a 22-year-old man, outside the Byblos Hookah Bar near Rittenhouse Square in Centre City, CBS reports on Friday.
Police said shortly after Bolaji picked up the young man, another vehicle pulled up behind his SUV, and two men got out.
One of them opened fire, shooting both Bolaji and the passenger.
Despite being shot in the head, Bolaji managed to drive a short distance before crashing into a pole at 17th and Chestnut Streets.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
His passenger, who sustained gunshot wounds to the arm, leg, and stomach, was rushed to Jefferson University Hospital in critical condition.
Police say the shooting was captured on surveillance cameras, and the attackers were in a black Jeep Grand Cherokee believed to have Massachusetts number plates.
Authorities are still trying to determine the motive behind the attack. Investigators believe there may have been a physical altercation between the passenger and the suspects before the shooting.

77 and still driving Uber when his mates at home are relaxing and enjoying their old age. May his soul rest in peace
ReplyDeleteMay his soul rest in peace.
Delete77 and driving?
He probably didn't save in his youth.
If you spend your youth "living life" instead of working out your future, you'll surely spend your old age working instead of living life.

Same thing I was thinking before I saw your comment. May God rest his soul.
DeleteEverywhere red now oo
DeleteOh please! Stop the assumptions. Many older adults get bored of retirement, and many do not need as much sleep as they did when they were young. Imagine being 77 and still having the strength to deal with technology and drive even at night. That is a level of health we all hope to have at that age.
DeleteRittenhouse square is an upscale part of Philadelphia, if my memory serves me correct. He likely thought he was in a safe neighborhood and nothing bad would happen and that is why he took the trip.
May his innocent soul rip and the culprits be located.
A.lot of people don't think at all, if someone decides to travel out at age 45 what age do you think he would retired? Or if you have late breakthrough around 50s what age are you going to relax? Use your brain before commenting trash.

Is he your daadiiiee? Ewoo sorry o.
You missed the point.
If driving an Uber is financially beneficial and worthy, as presumed, fine.
In Baltimore I've had Uncles drive Lyft and make like N300 dollars after 4 hours, tips et all sometimes but they're not in their 70s okay?
He can do other less risky gigs meant for his age.
Popsie ordered for his catapult this morning because he wanted to fire down the ass of an old man not up to 70 who was climbing a ๐ด tree in the compound to check if he can fix palm wine bottle on it.
He insisted the man comes down,he's too old to still be tapping and likely fall off the tree.
Go find him a safer gig if he's your uncle. In a case of an emergency, he cannot run off. His legs are definitely feable.
This one no follow. 77? Naaa.

XhIrted P, I am not 12:28 or 12:41.
DeleteI just want to say, don't go all out to conclude and condemn when you do not know the circumstances and situation of a person or the reasons for their choice in life.
Sometimes, life throws up what one has never imagined.
Granted, 77 is too old and 2.00am to late (early in the day) for a man of that age to be at work on the streets. However, we simply do not know his reasons for thar
Xhlrted P, I am neither 12:28 nor 12:41 but we do not know the circumstances or reasons that made a 77-year old man make the choice of being an Uber driver or be out working on the streets at 2:00am.
DeleteHe might not have children or want to be on benefits. He probably felt safe in his car and driving might not be as strenuous as working in a store or some other jobs.
User driving could also be something he does once in a while.
May his soul rest in peace.
@XP
DeleteHis legs are definitely "FEEBLE'' not Feable.
21:23 Wisdom is close to your abode. But I would advise, never debate with people that think they know it all.

ReplyDelete77 years ???? Driving Uber???
DeleteNot a good life at that age.
Someone up there is trying to justify career.
DeleteImagine he's a stunt man because it pays heavily or he feels he's strong enough then he jumps on floors, misses a range and lands on his head?
People won't forgive his employer.
A 77 year old is a stunt man? Who does that?

Hello iya Boys
God abeg ooo, may we not be at the wrong place and at the wrong time.
ReplyDeleteMay God rest his soul.
Amen. He is just a victim of unforseen circumstances.
DeleteThank you, SallyB. So many chomping off at the fingers, victim blaming the elder for working Uber and being killed. All forgetting that he was the victim of a crime that could happen to any person caught in a crossfire. Even the target seemed to have been an innocent victim too. The way ppl are quick to blame folks for getting killed these days just shows me that Matthew 24 is being fulfilled. The love in many has surely gone cold.
DeleteI’m shook. As if a young man would have survived this. Some people truly no get sense
DeleteMay his soul rest in peace.

ReplyDeleteThis man is soo healthy that he can drive even at the age of 77,
ReplyDeleteWhat a sad end may his soul RIP
To be honest, he wasn't even the target
ReplyDeleteHe must have enjoyed driving. 77 and still driving uber? Strong and young at heart. In Nigeria, he wouldn’t have been able to do that at 60 talkless of 77. May his soul rest in peace, Amen.
