 A video recording of Nnamdi Kanu’s interrogation by officials of the Department of State Services was played in court on Tuesday in his ongoing trial before a Federal High Court in Abuja. The statement Kanu made on October 15, 2015 has also been read. In the video, he admitted establishment of Radio Biafra and registration in London.

 The Senate’s Minority Leader, Abba Moro, yesterday alleged that the choice of a former governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa, as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s running mate in the 2023 presidential election made the latter lose the poll. Moro was reacting to Okowa’s statement that he regretted accepting to be Atiku’s running mate.

 Parties involved in the investigation of the alleged drug-related case involving President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 1990s are expected to release investigation reports on Friday, May 2 as ordered by the court. The agencies expected to make their investigation reports available are US Attorneys, Department of State, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Internal Revenue Service, Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Central Intelligence Agency.

. The Islamic State West Africa Province has claimed responsibility for a deadly improvised explosive device attack near Rann, in Kala-Balge Local Government Area of Borno State. According to residents and security sources, the incident occurred along the Furunduma axis around 11 a.m. on Friday and initially left 17 people dead. The casualties included four women, six children, and seven other passengers.

. A High Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti has sentenced five men to death by hanging for conspiracy, armed robbery and murder. The convicted individuals-Ojo Tope, Damilola Christopher, Joshua Adegoke, Aderopo Temitope and Oyedele Oluwatobi-were also handed a 21-year prison term each for conspiracy.

 The national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has vowed to challenge in court the defection of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, his predecessor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, and the entire party structure in the state, following the gale of defections that rocked the party, as chairman of the Board of Trustees, BoT, Senator Ebere Wabara, said the All Progressives Congress, APC, would soon implode.

 The Nigeria Labour Congress has declared that the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, does not require any coalition with the Peoples Democratic Party or support from political figures like former Vice President Atiku Abubakar or ex-Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, to win the 2027 presidential election.

 Chidinma Ojukwu, a former 300-level Mass Communication student at the University of Lagos, on Tuesday, told a Lagos State High Court that every statement she made to the police during interrogation was false and made under duress. Chidinma is standing trial for the alleged murder of the Chief Executive Officer of Super TV, Michael Usifo Ataga.

Former Delta State governor and 2023 vice-presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, yesterday claimed that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is on his way out of the PDP. In an interview on Tuesday, Okowa said that Atiku was aware and had been consulted on the decision by him, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and other Delta PDP stakeholders to defect to the All Progressives Congress.
