Late Gospel Singer Osinachi's Husband Sentenced To Death For Killing Her

Justice Njideka Nwosu-Iheme of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Wuse Zone 2, Abuja, has sentenced the husband of late gospel singer, Osinachi, Peter Nwachukwu, to death by hanging...

Justice Nwosu-Iheme found him guilty of culpable homicide resulting in the death of the deceased on April 8, 2022.

The judge sentenced Nwachukwu to death while sentencing him after the court had held that the prosecution had proven the burden of proof placed on it by the law and subsequently found the defendant guilty.

Nwachukwu was arraigned on June 3, 2022, by the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation (OAGF), on behalf of the Federal Government, on a 23-count charge bordering on culpable homicide punishable with death, criminal intimidation, cruelty to children, criminal intimidation of children, spousal battery, among others.

In the course of trial, the prosecution called 17 witnesses, including two children of the late Osinachi, who testified as fourth prosecution and fifth prosecution witnesses, PW4 and PW5 respectively, while it tendered 25 documents as exhibits before the court

The defendant testified for the defence and further called four other witnesses and tendered four exhibits in his defence.
Shortly before sentencing the defendant, counsel for Nwachukwu, Reginald Nwali, pleaded with the court to be lenient in its judgment, while the prosecuting counsel, Mrs Aderonke Imala, urged the court to give force to the law as stipulated.
Justice Nwosu-Iheme subsequently sentenced Nwachukwu to death by hanging on Count 1, while he was sentenced to two years imprisonment each on Counts 2, 3, 8,9, 12, 13, and 18.

The court sentenced the defendant to six months imprisonment on Count 10, three years imprisonment on Count 11, while he was fined the sum of N500,000 and N200,000 respectively on Counts 6 and 7, respectively.

  3. Wow.!!! I am glad he was made to face the law. In all of this, it is the kids that have lost both parents.
They should never let him out for the safety of the kids that testified against him and Osinachi's family members also. He can rot in hell for all l care.

  10. This is so good and will be a great lesson to all the abusive and violent men out there, thank you judge Nwosu for giving Osinachi justice.
Osinachi, may you continue to rest in peace and may God continue to protect your children.
Whether man or woman, love yourself enough to walk away from any environment or relationship that is toxic to you, stop looking at what society will say, choose yourself and stop living for society.

  13. See what "let me stay back because of the children" has caused. Because, it could be part of her reasons.
The children will suddenly become orphans, live with the trauma and maybe bully, for the rest of their lives, be handed over to relatives who might not take care of them properly and God helps them not to be victims of paedophiles.

My point is, once it comes to battering, please leave to save your life and your children .
If you truly love them, you will leave.
Even if your case is not death, you might end up raising damaged children, who might become batterers tomorrow or full of hate, anger issues, hate men/women, hate marriage, be bad spouses, cos they never saw a better example, etc.

  22. This makes me sad, I feel for the children. Though that kind of man would not have raised them well if he was let off the hook, I read that he was mean to the children too (allegedly)

    Wicked man

  31. Correct
Let it be speedily carried out and spread the news to the destructive wild animals with male genitalia pretending to be men

  32. It's because she was a public figure, assuming she was a regular woman, the man will most likely get away with it. I remember one man pushed his wife from the upstairs balcony while arguing with her or trying to discipline her, this woman died, the family of the woman made some noise, after that, matter settled ( off course money exchanged hands with the man signing undertaking that he will train all his children and the woman's siblings thru Uni. Na so the family leave the man!... Who don die don die, leave to live na the right slogan.

    ReplyDelete
  33. This is just too sad. I'm indifferent about the man because he deserves whatever he gets, but the innocent children in the middle of this? What a pity.

  34. Good one but women who take sh...t from men and refuses to get out of an abusive relationship always end up dead.

  35. Hmm... Like this children don become orphans. It is well

  36. Finally! I know he will appeal the judgement, but they should please not allow him out of the prison. Keep resting Osinachi.

  37. I don't know how I feel about this development..

  38. Justice well Served

People are saying what about the kids, it’s this same Mindset that killed the Mum in the First place

    ReplyDelete
  39. Even if the appeal court considers his case, the sentence might be reduced to life in prison. The worst of it is the children testifying against him, so sad. See what lack of self-control and avarice have caused.
