Lady Narrates How A Nursing Mum Was Informed By Hospital That Her Baby Was Mistakenly Switched At Birth...

How does she return a baby she has been with for three months and bonded with?

''I got a call from the hospital where I birthed Xamira last night and I was asked to please show up at the hospital. We woke up this morning, got dressed, and left for the hospital. We got there, and after all was said and done, the summary of the story is that the midwives mistakenly switched our babies. I’m currently the most confused person on earth.(Backstory: the day I gave birth, there were 3 other women that also had their babies in the same labor room.)
I’m losing my mind, y’all.”

  5. That's why it's advisable to go into the labour room with either your husband, relative or any trusted person. Switching of babies happen a lot, some parents looking for a particular gender can pay the nurses on duty to switch someone else's baby.

    1. Oversabi Nigerian Doctors and Nurses usually don't allow family member into the labour room.
      Very annoying attitude and backwardness.
The loop holes in this country called Nigeria are excess.
I feel so sorry for her and she shouldn't spare that hospital at all.
      They have to pay hugely.
      This is insane.

  6. Obviously, the husband of one of the nursing mothers did a DNA test on his child, and it came out negative. The wife insisted she didn't cheat, so they likely did a DNA test on the wife also, and it all came out negative, which means their baby has been switched. Thank God they found out early and not when the kids are grown and already attached to their fake parents. The parents should thank God for this discovery. They may be going through some emotional rollercoaster at present, but eventually, they will be fine.

  16. What kind of a ridiculous situation is this? On the bright side I'm happy for them it's happening now rather than much later when the children have grown which will make it a lot harder.

  19. I actually think this happens more often than folks realize. Humans will always make mistakes. Even wrong bodies are being given to families for burial.

  20. This is so unbelievable! After going through the life-changing experience of giving birth 3 month ago and bonding with what she thought was her baby, she received a shocking call informing her that the baby wasn't hers. It sounded like a plot straight out of a movie. By God, those hospital staff were going to have a lot to answer for.

  21. This almost happened in the hospital I gave birth.four ladies were in labor at the same time,I was the first to deliver then another, immediately the placenta was detected and my baby was taken away from me, I jokingly told the nurse who was beside me to please watch and mark my baby because other babies were delivered as well.A band was worn on each baby's wrist carrying the names of each mothers.

This often happen in large hospitals who are not careful enough

    1. Just what I wanted to type. I thought writ bands were immediately put on new babies with their surnames on them...to avoid these types of stories..

  22. Ha!!! This is recklessness from the hospital's side, No wonder my mum guarded my baby like a hawk on the day, he was born, to avoid stories that touches.

  24. What a country! And tomorrow they will accuse the woman of infidelity. Let your husband, trusted friend or any of your relative be in labour room with you period.

  25. This is the reason I keep saying men whose kids fail paternity tests(DNA) should be patient and do a maternity test before reaching conclusions. This happens a lot in large hospitals in Naija, some mistakenly while some are intentional.
Let’s imagine a scenario where a husband has already killed his wife or gotten someone else pregnant because of the wife’s perceived infidelity.

  27. Discovering something like that after forming such a strong emotional bond can be heartbreaking.

Three months is still early enough to manage the emotional impact, but imagine raising a child for years, celebrating milestones, birthdays, first steps… only to find out later that the child isn’t biologically yours. That kind of revelation can shake someone to their core.

  28. Na to sue the hospital for negligence and trauma.
They have to be taught a lesson.

  29. The hospital should be sued and pay heavily for the emotional damage they've caused the parents.
