This is crazy. I hope the home owner has insurance and the lady’s family hires a good lawyer. The bad deed has been done but there needs to be serious consequences and accountability.
ReplyDeleteAll those owners abroad that gives relatives to build for them and they are sent pictures, this is the result. They will use substandard materials to build.
DeleteMay the soul of the lady rest in peace.

Blame the people in Nigeria that can’t be trusted instead. One can’t be in two different places at the same time. People in naija need to do better
Deleteso sad...this almost happened to me 2 weeks after my wedding in 2005....i went out to fetch water in the compound and the tank fell just missing me by a few meters. it felt like a flood of water was drowning me. the shock did not leave me for days... poor girl, may her soul rest in peace.

Either the metal rods were not thick enough or maybe the joints had rusted and eroding, thereby making it to break and give way.
ReplyDeleteWe need a good maintainance culture, the caretaker that should have been checking the rods holding the tank and other parts of the house will be gallivanting about.
Imagine dying inside the comfort of your room as a result of someone's negligence.
May her soul rest in peace.
It’s the government’s fault
ReplyDeleteThey keep letting people build without inspection
Yes even a good builder can make mistakes
A tank should not be above the living area no matter how well built it is … because anything can happen
What if a strong wind blew it off.
We must depend more from our government
This is so heartbreaking 💔
ReplyDeleteRest in peace to her

Very Avoidable Death. Allegedly the Owner of the Building said His Engineer should be held Responsible
They really need to start holding these builders responsible, it's really unfair how they risk people's lives.

ReplyDeleteMay her soul rest in peace
It's well. May her soul rest in peace.
ReplyDeleteBut why will any sane human construct an overhead tank in such close proximity. This is so so sad, you're just inside your house and a tank falls on you.
ReplyDeleteThis is so sad. Its well.
ReplyDeleteIn a sane country, the person that built the house and constructed that metal that held the tank will be health responsible.
ReplyDeleteI saw it on Facebook yesterday, no place is save again is only God that will save us from evil. May her soul rest in peace
ReplyDeleteBoth the agency in charge of building and the builder should be held responsible. This is an avoidable death, I pray God comfort her family.
ReplyDeletePoor girl. I see water tanks all the time but never even thought this was possible. I'm about to change the fence in my house in the abroad and my county is saying I must get a permit before being approved, I was even fuming, just for fence kwa. Looking through the county website you basically need a permit for every single thing you add to your home - swimming pool, fence, deck, patio, porch, pavers, anything. Now I understand, oh now I understand. If you leave human beings, they will construct anything without care of the safety or implications. Those building codes and permits matter. Nigeria should please adopt such a system. It is for our good. Once something like this happens, a bill should be passed to ensure it doesn't happen again. Solutions are needed, justice is a stronger love language than sympathy.
