The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted three days of moderate-heavy rainfall in six States of the country. The affected States are: Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Edo, Bayelsa Delta and Ogun. The rainfall is anticipated between Wednesday April 9-11, 2025.


 The National Vice Chairman (North West) of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Garba Muhammad, has cautioned former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, and ex-governor of Kaduna State, Nasir el-Rufai, to tread softly ahead of the 2027 general election. Muhammad said Atiku should not listen to some politicians like El-rufai who “are dangling the carrot of a coalition” to him ahead of 2027.

The National Security Adviser, NSA, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, yesterday, warned against payment of ransom to terrorists, kidnappers and other criminals. He gave the warning while receiving a fresh batch of over 60 rescued victims who had been in kidnappers’ den for over a month, following intense military pressure in Kaduna.

 The Borno State governor, Babagana Zulum, has raised an alarm that the state seems to be losing grounds to terrorists. He spoke on Tuesday at the Government House, Maiduguri, during an expanded Security Council meeting which, he noted, was convened to hear the truth from major stakeholders, including traditional rulers and heads of security agencies in the state.

 Bandits have launched a series of attacks on several communities in Tsafe LGA of Zamfara State, killing two people and abducting over 60 others in what appears to be retaliation for the recent killing of some of their warlords by security operatives.

 A total of 11 governors of the Peoples Democratic Party have approached the Supreme Court challenging what powers President Bola Tinubu has to suspend a democratically elected structure of a state. The suit filed by the governors also challenges the declaration of a state of emergency rule in Rivers State.

 The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has uncovered illegally connected valves used by suspected oil bunkers to siphon crude oil from a major pipeline in the Umuoelechi creeks of Abia State. According to NSCDC on its official Facebook page, the illegal connection was discovered during a routine surveillance operation in the area.

 President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other eminent Nigerians, including former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, Mr. Peter Obi, yesterday, expressed sorrow over the death of renowned entrepreneur, banker, and elder statesman, Dr. Pascal Gabriel Dozie, who passed away at the age of 85.

 The Police Command in Ondo State says it has deployed operatives to apprehend killers of three farmers at Ajagbusi community in Akure North Local Government Area of the state on Tuesday. DSP Ayanlade Olushola, the command’s spokesperson made the disclosure while speaking with journalists in Akure.

Rivers State Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.) has appointed administrators for the 23 Local Government Areas of the state.
Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Ibibia Worika disclosed this in a Special Government Announcement issued on Wednesday morning.

Although the details of the new appointees were not mentioned, the statement said the appointments take immediate effect.

It reads, “His Excellency The Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral (Rtd) Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas CFR, has approved the appointments of administrators for the 23 Local Government Areas of Rivers State.

“He has also approved the reconstitution of some boards of agencies, commissions, and parastatals, earlier suspended.
“All appointments take effect from Monday, the 7th of April 2025.”

It was learnt that Ibas also approved the constitution of some boards of agencies, commissions and parastatals which he had earlier suspended.
The appointment is coming barely 24 hours after a Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt reportedly restrained Ibas from appointing administrators to oversea the affairs of the local government councils.

Former Major League Baseball player, Tony Blanco Jr., is among the dozens who died on Tuesday’s roof collapse at a Dominican Republic nightclub.

This was disclosed by the Dominican Republic Ministry of Sports and Recreation.
The Ministry confirmed Blanco’s death with a post on social media on Tuesday afternoon.
“We deeply regret the passing of former Major Leaguer, Tony Blanco.
“His legacy will remain in the history of national baseball.
“We join in their grief his family, friends, and teammates, and raise our prayers for his eternal rest. Peace to his soul,” the ministry wrote.

Octavio Dotel, a longtime MLB pitcher, also died in the disaster.

  3. So By appointing a Sole administrator every democratic structure in Rivers state is under suspension too?
    Read some where that the Supreme Court halted his exercising that power of appointment. Here we are today . The law is never respected when it comes to some ... 🙄
