Senator Natasha Akpoti To Be Recalled By Stake Holders In Kogi State

Stakeholders in Kogi Central have begun the process of recalling the suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who is representing them at the National Assembly.

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s constituents have initiated a two-day recall exercise across all the polling units in the district over alleged poor performance, and failure to address key issues like poverty, infrastructure, and challenges in the education sector in the district.

The federal lawmaker was suspended on March 6, 2025, for alleged gross misconduct and violation of the Senate rules days after a face-off with the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, over a change of sitting arrangement in the chambers.

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan had also accused Akpabio of making s*xual advances at her and later petitioned the United Nations over the issue.
But in a dramatic twist, her constituents  on Wednesday began the process of removing her from office. The process which started from her Okehi Local Government Area, saw a large number of constituents waiting to sign a petition against her.

Sources from the council said constituents from different political parties were in the queue to sign the petition.
One of the constituents at Okehi, Nura Ibrahim, told Daily Trust that “the people she represents are dissatisfied with her performance, particularly, in the areas of infrastructure and education and failure to address poverty.”

He said, “Stakeholders are not taking the decision to recall the lawmaker lightly. The argument is that they had tried to engage with Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan on several occasions, but their efforts were in vain.

  3. She should get the fuck outta the Senate. She's rude, uncouth, stubborn and a below the belt liar. It jars on my nerves that she's moving from one international news channel to the other too. What happened to mellowing down and being diplomatic?

  7. They are attacking her on all fronts so her fighting powers will be depleted. There was no issue of being recalled before now they have added that to her list of problems.

This recalling is to keep her busy fighting to retain her seat and if she's busy she won't have the time to be granting interviews on international platforms

  8. They interviewed some of them and they said they were told it's an empowerment thing and they should come with their voters card. They lined up not knowing what they were there for.
It is well with this country.

  14. Ask those people shouting for the recall to give reasons for it, we will be surprised to know they don't have any reason. May God help us in the country.

  15. This is politics, good, bad and ugly.

I believe Natasha's claim about Akpabio. I also know that from the scenarios she described, such instances of harassment are near impossible to prove save with circumstancial evidence eh the episode in Akpabio's house which was unexpected. I don't know if the husband has a recording of his meeting with the SP or if she has evidence of the second encounter in the man's office.
The problem of not confiding in others and her husband's account not tallying with hers about whether she told him of the first incident is there. The case of Wendell Simlin who played a cheap trick because she gave a wrong date also counts against her: saying you were robbed during Eid instead of at Christmas doesn't rule out being robbed.

The problem with Natasha is that she keeps playing activism without politics: she admitted she focused her local content committee efforts on the North not minding the SS (the source of the gas and the block in leadership)which allocated her the chairmanship as a first timer. The Kogi APC senators who lobbied to keep the post in their state were not carried along - money isn't everything, even getting pointers as per projects, supporting theirs and carrying the state governor along to benefit the state or region logs points and he may have shielded her from Yahaya's recall. The NASS staff she didn't let share the money for stationery was moral but there is wisdom regarding these things: give them the 2 million from your pocket and see them distribute it amongst themselves, tell them it's to protect them from any legal troubles and that way, you keep their affection and stay free from entrapment.

Politics is not marching on the streets of you don't believe, ask the AD. The person to have reported Akpabio to should have been his wife and the minority leader with clear proof - a recording or text and in the presence of her husband.

All that being said, she walked right into a trap that didn't even exist. Had she sat on her allocated seat or moved when told to like the 17 other senators shuffled, she won't be in this mess. Every camera in NASS has a swivel and she can always get people in the gallery to video her and boost her social media presence. I hope the recall effort flops but You need your colleagues to support your bills and give you good slots to deliver for your people. These same people hailing you at home will derail your career for 5000 naira on election day.
