King’s College Student Dies From Diphtheria Complications + 14 Others Hospitalised

A tragic diphtheria outbreak has occurred at King's College in Lagos, Nigeria and a 12-year-old student, identified as the index case,  died from complications on March 6, 2025. The outbreak has also led to 14 other students being hospitalized, with symptoms consistent with diphtheria.

In response, the Lagos State Government has activated an Emergency Operations Committee and launched a mass vaccination campaign targeting students, staff, and healthcare workers at the school. Efforts are also underway to improve infection prevention measures and raise public awareness about the disease.

Diphtheria is a highly contagious bacterial infection that can cause severe respiratory and cardiac complications if not treated promptly

  3. I think diphtheria vaccine is one of the vaccines to be taken by children during the immunization time.

May God comfort the family of the dead boy and restore back the health of those in the hospital.

    God's Favor

  10. Our boarding schools are too dirty
Anyone that has attended federal boarding school just mention school toilet and the trauma returns
Why are we satisfied to send our children to dirty schools
Why won’t government help with good sanitation and easy access to clean water
Why no running tap water in most schools in 2025
Even international airport doesn’t have good clean toilets unless it recently changed few months ago

  11. The amount of diseases on this earth that can kill a human is startling. Just staying alive until old age is a great accomplishment. Now this ancient disease is killing ppl again, wasn’t this thing wiped out?
