ReplyDeleteSo one of my childhood friends relocated to Portugal (with a now expired visa) with her husband in June 2024 and since then they had been struggling to get jobs. She would get cleaning gig from time to time and other menial jobs but the husband was not able to get anything.
During the last hallelujah challenge, we all put it into prayer and I can remember my prayer point being for God to provide them with jobs that will even shock every single one of us. This month, she got at interview to work at a warehouse (don’t forget she’s illegal oh) and even though they didn’t mind her illegal status, they couldn’t give her the job because she couldn’t speak Portuguese and the job was a fully Portuguese speaking job. I was really hopeful on her getting this job so I was quite devastated when she gave me the news.
In a shocking turn of events, few days later, she got an email asking her to come for a follow up interview on 28th of March (that’s today) and we resumed prayers. But two days ago, they suddenly called her at night that she had been given the job and explained the whole job and salary to her and asked her to come yesterday for training and to sign all the paperwork necessary so she can resume work fully on 28th (today).
Na so my illegal friend take see decent paying job (pays more than minimum wage), job even comes with a work contract that she can eventually use to apply for her residence permit (I’m smiling so much as I’m typing this).
The testimony doesn’t end there. During her break from training was when she called me to give me all the details and to confirm she’s signed all the paperworks. She had no idea that her husband had been trying to reach her on her other phone.
Few minutes after we hung up, she called me to inform me that while we were talking, her husband was calling her to inform her that he had just received an email to resume work immediately at a place he applied for job. He was also being paid the exact amount the wife was being paid and will also hopefully get a work contract. Is this not God???? These are illegal immigrants that had been searching for months unsuccessfully only for God to give them this double shocker!!!!
My head has just been all over the place just thanking God on their behalf because it’s been a tough couple of months for them and that lack is about to be totally wiped out!!!

After sharing great truths and insights, the psalmist often used the word 'Selah'. It is thought to mean 'pause and reflect'. People have said that experience is the best teacher. But the truth is, evaluated experience is the best teacher! Stopping to reflect is one of the most important activities you can do in order to grow. It provides more value than motivation or encouragement because it lets you make sure you're going down the right road. If you're on the wrong track, you don't need motivation to move faster. You need to pause, reflect, and change course.
In the Bible it says, 'Many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase' (Daniel 12:4 NKJV). You will note that it says 'knowledge' will increase, which is information, facts and data, but it doesn't say understanding will increase. With a sharp intellect and a good memory, you can retain lots of knowledge. But in order to have understanding, you must take the time to drill down and understand what you're seeing and hearing. Galileo said, 'All truths are easy to understand once they are discovered. The point is to discover them. That takes investigation.'
By pausing and reflecting, you can sort through the experiences you have, put them into perspective, and glean from them the wisdom required to have a better future. These are often referred to as 'aha' moments, when you experience sudden understanding or insight. It's when the proverbial light bulb switches on. Only a few things in life are better than moments like that. But these moments only come to those who take the time and effort to pause and reflect.

Exposition:
In James 5:7, we are encouraged to be patient until the Lord's coming. The farmer is given as an example of patience, waiting for the land to yield its valuable crop. This verse reminds us that patience is not just a passive waiting, but an active trusting in God's goodness and provision. The story of Abraham in Genesis 12-22 is a powerful illustration of patience. Abraham waited for many years for God to fulfill His promise of a son, and his patience was ultimately rewarded.

Some people downplay kidnapping in Nigeria cos it hasn't happen to them. Let me share this with you guys. Sometime around 2016 someone I knew his father was kidnapped. He paid 10m but guess what? When they went where to pick up the old man, they met his corpse. The man died in their custody but they kept on calling and demanding money lieing to them he's fine.
Listen, not everyone kidnapped regain freedom. So I don't regret my action. I don't know how we all see this money. Something we'll someday leave behind.
God will make a way for me. What matter most now is my sister is happy now. What's money if we can't use it for our happiness?

DeleteI was upset and didn't proofread. I meant to write, "He playfully starts to drag the food with me." In the process, the food spilled. The most painful thing was that I don't even cook like that, and I also don't eat out, but I didn't have a choice that day because the woman who cooks was indisposed. So imagine going through all the stress of cooking for nothing. I went to bed hungry, munching peanuts instead of real food.
We are not close friends, but we chat when we see each other. He is my brother's friend, and we talk sometimes. He came to collect a parcel my brother dropped off with me.
He has eaten at my place during prior visits, but I didn't know he would come over when he showed up; otherwise, I would have added his portion so I could have peace of mind, because everyone knows he is someone who likes food a lot.
