EFCC Arrests Ex-Akwa Ibom State Gov Udom For Allegedly Stealing Over N700bn Public Funds

Akwa Ibom state governor, Udom Emmanuel, has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations of mismanaging N700 billion public funds....

The former governorreportedly arrived at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja around   on Tuesday , March 4, 2025 to honour an invitation regarding accusations of money l@undering, fund diversion, and theft which were brought forward by a civil organisation called the Network Against Corruption and Tr@fficking (NCAT)....

According to the petition, Emmanuel’s administration received N3 trillion from the Federation Account over eight years but allegedly left Akwa Ibom with a debt burden of N500 billion and unfinished projects worth N300 billion. The petitioners claim an audit of the state’s finances exposed the mismanagement, with N700 billion reportedly unaccounted for.

  9. Effc that do not know how to garner proper and reliable evidence for prosecution. Next the court will discharge him for lack of credible evidence. Mostly all the States Governor's have zero vision for their state despite the increase in allocation, no visible development.

  11. When I say Nigeria is not a poor country this is what I am talking about. Imagine what Nigeria would be like to live in if all the monies was spent ethically and judiciously. Think what kind of roads, schools, hospitals, homes the average person would have access to. Just really think for a moment what global reputation Nigeria would have. It would be outsiders japaing to Nigeria and not the other way around.
