The Chief Judge of the Federal High Court in Abuja, Justice John Tsoho, has reassigned the case of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, to a different judge. Kanu’s lead counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, disclosed this development in a statement on Saturday in Abuja.


 Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has declared commitment towards a multi-party coalition against the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC) in 2027. He, however, said he will never leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The Senate has faulted pervasive claims that its member representing Kogi Central, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, was suspended for accusing the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, of sexual harassment. Rather, the upper chamber clarified that Akpoti-Uduaghan was suspended specifically due to her flagrant disobedience to Sections 6.1 and 6.2 of the Senate Standing Orders 2023.

The kidnappers of a Catholic Priest, Rev. Fr. Philip Ekeli, and a seminarian, Peter Andrew, have demanded N200 million before they would release their victims. The clerics were kidnapped on Monday night at the St Peter Catholic Church, Ivukwa in Etsuko East local government area of Edo State.

 Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party have denied speculations that five of their members were in support of an El-Rufai/ Obi 2027 Presidential ticket. Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum, Senator Bala Mohammed, in a statement signed on his behalf by the forum’s Director-General, Dr. Emmanuel Agbo, on Saturday denounced publications supporting these claims.

 A fashion designer, Lawrence Edobor, was beheaded by suspected ritualists at about 2am on Friday in Evbuotubu, Benin City. The 43-year-old was said to be coming home from a burial he attended on Thursday evening before he was murdered and beheaded, an incident which left the community in shock.

 The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a welder, Oladokun Johnson, a truck driver, Azeez Salami, and a truck owner, Olaleye Kamaldeen, over the electrocution of a 23-year-old apprentice, Jonathan Emmanuel, at a welding workshop in the Asimolowo area of Ifo.

 The Police in Kano have apprehended four suspects over alleged banditry in the state. The police also recovered arms and ammunition from the suspects at Chula Filling Station in Hotoro area of Kano metropolis. The spokesman of the Command, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, stated this at a news conference on Saturday in Kano.

 Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Abia Sector Command, has confirmed the death of four people, with 14 others injured in a crash on the Umuahia-Enugu Expressway. Sector Commander, Mrs Ngozi Ezeoma, issued the confirmation in a statement on Saturday.

 The remains of the three siblings killed by yet-to-be-identified assailants in Nnewichi, Nnewi North LGA of Anambra State, were on Saturday laid to rest amid heavy wailing by family and community members. The three siblings of the Ejezie’ family – Chikaima, 9, Chimziterem, 8, and Chimdirim, the only son, 5, were killed on February 1 ,2025 and their lifeless bodies stuffed in a deep freezer.
