The Senate Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct and Public Petitions threw out Mrs Akpoti-Uduaghan’s petition, saying the matter was already a subject of litigation. The petition was written by Mr Zubairu Yakubu, one of Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s constituents.

A bill to strip the President and governors of power to proclaim a new session of the National and state Houses of Assembly was among the 39 proposed laws that scaled second reading in the House of Representatives on Tuesday.  There are growing concerns as retired army Brigadier General, Maharazu Tsiga, spent 49 days in captivity despite ransom payment. Tsiga, a former Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), was abducted, alongside nine other residents, on Wednesday, February 5 from his hometown of Tsiga, Bakori LGA, Katsina State.

 The Independent National Electoral Commission says the petition submitted for the recall of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan fell short of some requirements.  Justice Obiora Egwuatu of a Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday, recused himself from the suit filed by Sen. Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, against the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, and others. Justice Egwuatu announced his withdrawal from the case over allegations of bias levelled against the court by Akpabio, who is the 3rd defendant in the matter.

 A yet-to-be-confirmed number of soldiers were feared killed by Boko Haram insurgents in an attack on a military base in Sabon Gari, Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State on Monday. Local sources confirmed that the attack occurred in the evening when the insurgents launched an assault on the military formation, firing sporadically and causing numerous casualties, including soldiers killed and others critically injured.

    A country not at war but definitely at war with evil , seen and unseen forces . We keep wondering why people are leaving the country in droves .

  3. The kidnapping and ransom payment of the retired brigadier general is a testament of how porous our security apparatus is in this country. If someone of this status could be kidnapped, ransom paid and he is still being held, is there any hope for the common masses security?
