President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday hosted state governors, ministers and heads of paramilitary agencies to an Iftar dinner at the State House, Abuja, marking the first such gathering of the Ramadan season. Among the notable attendees were Rivers Governor Sim Fubara and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

 The Rivers State House of Assembly on Monday issued a warrant of arrest on the Chairman of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, RSIEC, Justice Adolphus Enebeli (rtd) following his refusal to appear before the lawmakers.

 The Lagos State Police Command has rescued 27 foreign nationals who were lured into Nigeria under false promises of employment. The victims, comprising 18 men and nine women from Ghana and Benin Republic, were found held captive in the Isheri Oshun area of Lagos.

 The Supreme Court of Nigeria on Monday reserved judgment in the appeal filed by the embattled Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Samuel Anyanwu, challenging his removal from office. Anyanwu, in his appeal, seeks to overturn the judgment of the Court of Appeal, Enugu, which upheld the December 20, 2024 verdict of the Federal High Court removing him as PDP National Secretary.

 Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have rescued 75 civilians from Sambisa Forest in Borno State. Addressing newsmen on Monday during the victims’ handover to the state government, the General Officer Commanding 7 Division of the Nigerian Army, Maj. Gen. W. Shaibu stated that the rescued individuals comprised seven men, 34 women, and 34 children.

The Bayelsa State Police Command has rescued two workers of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Mr Akari Loveday, Special Adviser on Domestic Affairs to the NDDC Managing Director and his brother, Emmanuel Nathan Ogbuku, who were kidnapped last Friday on the river near Ayakoro community in Ogbia Local Govt. Area of the state.
