The arrest order followed a criminal defamation case that was brought before the court by a renowned female gospel singer, Mercy Chinwo.
In his ruling Magistrate Emmanuel Iyana ordered the Nigeria Police Force and other law enforcement agencies to arrest VDM and produce him before the court to answer to criminal allegations that were levelled against him by the gospel singer.
Despite a passionate plea by counsel to the defendant, Mr. Deji Adeyanju, who was present in court, Magistrate Iyana declined to vacate the arrest order.
Adeyanju had begged the court to allow him to personally produce his client on the next adjourned date.
VDM made defamatory statements against the singer through his social media pages.

But nah Naija we dey Shaaa😳
Hello iya Boys
This guy and arrest/case na 5&6.
ReplyDeleteWay to go. Always having opinions about matters, that's none of his business. 🙄🙄🙄
ReplyDeleteGood
ReplyDeleteNext time you will drink water and mind ya business 🙄
ReplyDeleteIt's only God that knows how many cases are hanging on his neck, it's only claim to fame is defaming people up and down and I don't blame him but the people that forced him down our throats
ReplyDeleteThe criminalisation of every statement alleged to be defamatory will be the end of free speech in Nigeria. In other countries, defamation is simply a civil matter.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of VDM, but I watched his take on the Mercy Chinwo issue. He only shared his opinion, which was already common knowledge on social media.
How can a general opinion now be considered as a criminal action?
lol, I was laughing hard at their comments previously, ignorance too much for this Naija, pls rest don’t bother, they won’t even understand.
DeleteThe only people winning here are the lawyers, de play kikikiki
Nocturnal, when i first read ‘criminal defamation’ honestly for a moment i was confused. Like is my law degree getting outdated or what? But then i remembered in Nigeria, even recovery of debt is done by the police, they term it ‘criminal breach of trust’ 🤣🤣
DeleteSo why not allow mercy express herself?
DeleteWhy did he set up a camera and called her liar and manipulative, he should stop bullying people into silence and let them express their displeasures..
So, coming out to call her a liar and a manipulator over something he knows nothing about is free speech to you? Mercy is brand,Very dark Mumu coming online to tarnish her person and character was out of the line, talking as if he knew her before or had dealings with her previously was too much. His aim was to tarnish her career. Let him go bring the evidence he claims to have. He had absolutely no business with Mercy and no right coming to manipulate the public against her. Even eeezee has gone quiet because deep down he knows he is not innocent. Why withhold her royalties bcos she refused to extend her contract? Why forge the contract to make her stay more than necessary, who remains a slave forever? So far she completed the original contract and left, she has done nothing wrong. We know Mercy was is real asset, his real money bag, what he made from Mercy would take him years to gather from other signee,so he wanted her for himself. All these issues is simply bcos she refused to extend her contract.
DeleteIssues between artists and their managers are common occurrences, they will still settle one way or d other. VDM had no business calling her online. His aim was to ruin her career and that was bad. Where was he when Mercy started? He absolutely had no right coming for her.
Thank you Nocturnal
DeleteIf you like don’t post my comment again today Stella.
ReplyDeleteI’m not in anyway in support of this guy or anyone defaming people. My question remains how many people will she sue all through her career? Once they notice you get tickled by their actions they keep coming for you because they want to trend. There are some actions you take against someone you make them typical fools, rolling in the mud with a pig is not advisable but then it’s her choice.
Silence is a powerful weapon if you know how to use it, that doesn’t mean she should be completely silent over the matter, I gave e.g like issuing a statement and ignore them, once they see you’re not giving them the attention they desperately seek they’ll shrink back into their shell.
Mercy must understand that once you’re successful, you have as much enemies as friends, if I were her I won’t give myself unnecessary headache.
Again it’s a court case anybody can win depending, hopefully she wins if not she’ll become the breakfast, lunch and dinner in the hands of those vu•tures all over social media.
No, she won’t lose. People like VDM need to be put in their place. There are ways to express yourself without tarnishing others or defaming them. Your comment almost sounds like a person shaming someone who’s been beaten for crying. A typical shame the victim type of song that we just love to sing when women stand up for themselves. When it happens to you, please by all means be quiet and choose the golden zipper of silence.
DeleteHmmmm

Them go soon free am na today?
ReplyDeleteDoes he have a serious relationship with the way he goes in and out of prison and with the way he is always controversial?
ReplyDeleteYes, you can make so much money this way but then is it not getting too much already?
What's wrong with living a peaceful normal life like other people and still make money?
If it's like this, Even Naira Marley that is not a born again and doesn't even understand what's contained in the bible didn't tow this path when he was accused of killing Mobahd .
ReplyDeletePapa God look down from heaven and see the type of example your self acclaimed body of Christ are setting for people to emulate.
