DeleteHahahhaha Stellz says "he is calling you a bush rat" it means a woman of great strength literally.

ReplyDeleteThat’s wrong. He’s simply referring to as a stubborn woman. Probably because she stood up to him
DeleteIt is not female rat abeg....Is it because you heard Oke? Oke can mean boundary, strength, share or rat depending on pronunciation and intonation
DeleteYou are giving the literally meaning cos you saw”oke” that doesn’t mean he is calling her a rat!!
DeleteBinam, I think you are the very useless one. How dare you call someone's husband useless? Dem no train you ni?
DeleteAnd no, the phrase doesn't mean "a female rat".
@binam Instagram efulefu!! that's how you and your ilk insult people unnecessarily there . Thunder gbawakwagionu!!!
DeleteThem kuku train am e no listen ni
DeleteIt is not correct. It means strong woman
Deletedon’t call someone’s husband useless. You owe her an apology please.
DeleteIt's not an insult but it's an expression that tells that you are doing too much. Like you grew wings more than you should. Maybe you challenge him alot or you hardly take corrections or you don't take know for an answer or, you always feel superior to others or, you are too bossy or your I.T.K is too much or...
ReplyDeleteWell said but it's mildly an insult because he will only call you that name when he is angry.
DeleteIt shouldnt be an insult to the woman. It is advisable for her to be willing to give-in sometimes so her husband won't feel bad about her strong willed attitudes. At least when they tell you things like that, as a wise person and someone who loves to make people she loves feel comfortable around you, she would sit back and have a rethink, flash back on the things she does unknowingly that makes people see her as oke nwanyi (strong willed woman) and cut down on those attitudes. For her husband to call her okenwanyi, I believe he is not even the only one that sees her as oke nwanyi.
DeleteStella please nah 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.
ReplyDeleteOh my God, 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂😂.
Dear Poster, You are the war, the fight and the battle....You dey hit chest with am...Of course na compliment say you get power to dey challenge man....
ReplyDeleteNne be calming down, inu 😂😂😂
poster please ask your husband what he means... he could be insulting you or using the 'term' as a form of endearment.... you should also be able to tell in his tone if he means to insult you...
ReplyDeletebut please ooo do not bring your question here and because of the responses of blog visitors the small argument you and your hubby are having now becomes a big argument.... ask your hubby what he means when the two of you are not fighting and all is calm
Poster don't take it seriously, ' Oke ' means big, plenty, great' while 'nwanyi ' means woman. That means ' great woman '.
ReplyDeleteNo mind SDK ooooo. It's means strong willed woman. You no dey fold.😁😁😁
ReplyDeletePoster, oke nwanyi means big woman or stubborn woman or troublesome woman. Based on your argument, you should take a pick.
ReplyDeleteIt means a strong woman, maybe you are showing him too much power, so he's now hailing you🤣
ReplyDeleteOké nwanyi means strong woman or mighty woman
ReplyDeleteIt could mean your ear is plastic, meaning you no dey hear word. Or it could also be a compliment. What the igbos refer to as itu aha (hailing you) as a strong and unstoppable woman.
ReplyDeleteOke nwanyi literally means he woman...meaning that you are now behaving more like a male gender simply means that you are not submissive or heady.
ReplyDeleteYou carry your marrital matter wey no mean anything serious come this space be ready to receive epic advice. Full stop 🛑

ReplyDeleteIt's a compliment
ReplyDeleteCall him oke nwoke too. He isn’t being mean though. 😂🤣 una go kee me for this blog
ReplyDeleteKaren
It’s very negative, he doesn’t mean it in a good way. He means you are too strong headed, and not submissive….
ReplyDeleteSo you are not going to advise her to cut down in her strong headedness? How did the husband insult her here?
DeleteLobatan different interpretation from different people such is our languages in Africa ,madam ask well and don't go am make fight again oh
ReplyDeleteThe fact that there is not one concrete translation is strange, even with the context provided.
DeleteHe is not insulting you. It means that you're a strong woman because you always stand up for yourself, it's that simple
ReplyDeleteHe is insulting you. Igbo Men do not like any woman who shows initiative and speaks up for herself.
ReplyDeleteYou are on thin ice. Good luck
Very thin ice
DeleteShe’s on slippery ground
Brother Bernard mode activated
Wahala is seeping in
Madam sit up
He says it when you both fight
Nne he is not hailing you
That man’s head is doing mathematics

Adjust
It's not a compliment. It's something negative once he says it during a fight.
ReplyDeleteIf you call him oke nwaoke he will not like it.
He feels that you're dominating him
Oke nwanyi is big woman. He simply means you're a no nonsense woman or someone who knows her right.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you don dey change to show small sturboness abi you don dey get money and he is now hailing you (oke nwanyi) 😜either of the two
ReplyDeleteCheck
SDK, you still have a lot of Igbo to learn. You're not doing bad though. 😊
ReplyDeleteOke Nwanyi is the same thing as Agu Nwanyi(this is basically someone saying you are a lioness), just means you are strong willed and don't take nonsense. My dad calls me Oke Nwanyi a lot. SDK no be by force to translate a language you dont understand.
ReplyDeleteStella was apt in her interpretation though. Im Igbo and the first thing i thought was that the husband was calling her a rat.
DeleteWe are all just assuming that the intonation means strong woman. What if he was actually calling her a rat? Oke also means rat.
First of all are you not an Igbo? Who hails you during quarrels? That’s a call for you to adjust your too much gragra, watch your stubbornness. He’s simply telling you in a mild way you’re always over doing it, you no dey gree. He’s not hailing you in this context.
ReplyDeleteFor none Igbos, oke nwanyi can mean great woman, or stubborn woman depending on the occasion for instance a woman who just put to bed, launching an achievement in this context it’s a compliment but fight or quarrel it’s simply a subtle warning.
