Bill To Limit Age Of Presidential And Governorship Candidates In Nigeria Passes 2nd Reading

Nigeria's House of Representatives has passed a bill for its second reading that proposes a maximum age limit of 60 years for individuals contesting for the offices of President and Governor.
This bill, sponsored by Rep. Ikeagwuonu Ugochinyere, seeks to amend the 1999 Constitution, specifically Sections 131 and 177, to include this age restriction. Additionally, it introduces a requirement for candidates to hold at least a Bachelor's degree.

    1. Good leadership has nothing to do with age. A corrupt person is a corrupt person even as a vibrant youth and an old person. Desmond Eliot is young and vibrant but you cannot pinpoint any unique and quality impact he has had in the society since he joined politics. Is yahaya bello not a vibrant young man? What unique and quality impact has he had in the society as a leader?

There are people who genuinely desire that a day will come when they will be in power and they would change the society for good, they have studied and acquired skills and knowledge that may help them achieve their aim but the opportunity to rule may never present itself until they are 80yrs old, so , now that the opportunity presented itself to the qualified candidate at age 80, you will choose to elect a yahaya Bello over the 80 year old man who is not corrupt and greedy and has good plans to make tangible impacts in the society?

Thank God say I no dey follow masses they reason one sided sha. Donald Trump is even an old man but he achieved a lot in two months of resuming office.

As I am now, with good intentions in my mind, wishing to have that opportunity someday to handle all those insurgencies that has been taking them like forever to deal with and to fight corruption and build the nation with the informations and tactical measures I've gathered over the years, if the opportunity presents it's self to me as and 80yr old woman, you people will not accept me because I am old?

  6. Atleast Peter Obi should become president before they sign this thing into being. They know what they are doing low key. They know he's a favorite of the Nigeria people.

  7. Well, it is a good initiative but i think being corrupt doesn't have anything to do with age and again someone older than 60 can sometimes even be a better ruler than the younger ones.
