DeleteMy opinion is that we may have misconstrued the depth of this message, which is not literal. Contextually, as a people, we often notice what we lack or idealise in other people (in this case couples) when we are single, focusing on the seemingly 'false fulfilment' they exhibit or showcase due to our desires or longing for companionship that could be similar to what we make of the enviable couples we premise our desires to get married, admire and look up to.
ReplyDeleteBut once in a relationship or married, we either notice contented or struggling singles, appreciating our situation or questioning our choices while reflecting on our awareness of the potential freedoms we might be missing or have missed. And wonder if it would be any better to become single again.
In appositeness; it is a matter of perspective and desires to shape our observations, as influenced by the personal circumstances and desires we find ourselves in, defined by the weight of the type of expectations we carry into the relationship or marriage. Meaning we have realized that those marriages we envied, are not as they seem. They go through adjustments and reshuffling to get them where they are, which we may not have the grit or wit to pursue due to the inherent sacrifices required.
Maybe I am wrong. Just another way I looked at it.
Simply put, when you are single, you look at the facade of a lot of marriages and think it’s happiness but when you eventually get married and experience some of the pain inside of it, you miss the peace of being single
