The Lagos State Police Command says it has launched an inquiry into the death of Abdulmujid Oduga, who passed away while in police custody at the Ikota Police Post in the Ajah area of Lagos. Abdulmujid had a dispute with his neighbor (pictured below) and she got him arrested.

His family alleges that he was tortured to death by the police but the Nigerian Police Public Relations Officer, has reacted saying that the investigating police officer and the complainant are currently detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Yaba. An autopsy is also set to be conducted to determine the cause of death. Abdulmujid, reportedly married a few months ago and his wife is pregnant with their first child.

  3. That's why i always advice people against calling the Police for little matters. Someone insults you in your compound, next thing youve called Police. Someone parked his car wrongly, you've rushed to report to Police.

If that person dies in Police custody, you will have innocent blood on your hands.

  5. Police can escalate matters ehn!
This is why I hate anything that has to do with the Nigerian police station. If I have a disagreement with a customer, omo, I quickly apologize and if I have to pay small amount to make amends, I do it to avoid police wahala.

  6. Now she will be blaming herself. Always think about the repercussions of your actions. What if something goes wrong

  7. Heya.there are situations where seeking help from the police is the best course of action oo .I recall a personal experience where I had to call the police on a guy who was harassing me in wuse market Abuja. Like how else could I have handled being harassed by someone bigger and stronger other than calling the police? Let's not judge the girl too harshly.I,m totally against torturing anyone no Matter the offence, they would have just make him write an undertaking or something like that and then lay him off than to torture him
