This move comes in response to numerous complaints from Nigerians about the aggressive and often illegal tactics used by some digital lending platforms to recover loans.
These tactics include:
Defamation: Publicly shaming borrowers by sending messages to their contacts or posting their details online.
Harassment: Bombarding borrowers with incessant calls, messages, and threats.
Intimidation: Using threatening language or actions to coerce repayment.
Privacy violations: Accessing and misusing borrowers' personal data without consent.
The FCCPC has made it clear that such practices are unacceptable and violate consumer rights. Affected individuals are encouraged to report these incidents through their official channels.....
Although some Nigerians too are sorta wicked! They borrow with the intent not to pay, if u can’t pay back, then don’t borrow or ask for a loan!.

The ideal thing is to encourage Nigerians to not take loans, they have intentions of not paying back. 🙄🙄🙄
ReplyDeleteThis is a welcome idea, they always disturb my calls because one of their borrowers has my contact number, when he was borrowing, I wasn't there, why are they now disturbing my life.
ReplyDeleteTruecaller blocks many of them as spam, but they must still find a way to call you.
Good initiative 👍
ReplyDeleteNigerian should also learn to pay back their loan
Truth is nobody knows what will lead to their desperation in using such lending services. We all hope none of us will turn to these loan sharks, but life happens and unfortunate circumstances lead to unfortunate choices. So kudos for regulators to come out and notify the public on what their rights are and the protection that they have.
