There was chaos at the Lagos State House of Assembly, on Monday, as the Department of State Services invaded the assembly, allegedly on the orders of the clerk. In the ensuing melee, the lawmakers forcefully gained entry into the hallowed chamber and declared their support for the Speaker, Mojisola Meranda.


 The All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party have traded accusations over escalating violence in Osun State, which culminated in the killing of a former chairman of Irewole Local Government Area, Mr. Aderemi Abbas, and six others on Monday. The crisis was triggered by a contentious Court of Appeal ruling allegedly reinstating APC-elected local government chairmen.

In a statement jointly signed by its Chairman, Abdul-Raheem Abdul-Quadri, and Public Relations Officer, Ridwan Ajayi, NANS JCC Lagos denounced MTN’s claim of reversal, calling it a “deceptive response to our demands.”

 Residents of the Sedu 2 community in the Ogijo area of Ogun State are calling for an increased security presence, particularly from the Ogun State Police Command, following the discovery of a dismembered body of another woman on Sunday. The command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola said an investigation was underway to track down those responsible for the gruesome act, suspected to be a ritual killing.

The Imo State Police Command has begun a comprehensive investigation to unravel the cause of a fatal motor accident that occurred on Sunday, at Amala, Ngor-Okpala near Owerri, the state capital. The spokesperson for the Imo State Police Command, DSP Henry Okoye, revealed this in a statement on Monday.

 Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, says he has ordered a tactical squad to restore peace in Osun State following the political crisis that erupted in the early hours of Monday. Egbetokun also vowed that those who killed and maimed would be brought to book, adding that the force would not tolerate any act of hooliganism, lawlessness and anarchy in the State.

 Zamfara State government has banned all political gatherings, including rallies, in the state. According to the government, the ban, which affects all political parties and takes immediate effect, was to ensure peace and stability in the state.

The younger brother of the detained leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Emmanuel Kanu has lamented that the trauma of the invasion of the Kanu family compound in 2017 by the military led to the death of his parents, Eze Israel Kanu and his wife, Ugo Eze Kanu.
This is also as he claimed governors of the South East region have not taken a convincing step to meet President Bola Tinubu and demand for the release of his brother, Nnamdi Kanu.
Emmanuel Kanu, who stated this during his interview with ABN TV, “Political Perspective” on Monday, said that the governors and most leaders of the South East have not shown enough interests in working for the release of the detained IPOB leader the way Yoruba leaders worked for Sunday Igboho’s release.

The opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, in Osun State has urged the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency in the state.
This is as the political tension in the State took a new dimension on Monday, with some people reportedly killed.
Meanwhile, the state government has rejected the call for a state of emergency by the APC, which it accused of targeting to achieve their demand by deliberately causing mayhem in the state.
