Media personalities Stephanie Coker and Freeze (Amongst many celebs) agreed with the Minister and backed up their agreement with examples....
I also back this up... If you live in the UK there is a waiting lists in their hospitals, it would be better to seek treatment in another Country..In the US, it is so expensive.........Germany is rated the best...
And some e govt hospitals here are been neglected in terms of development 😞
ReplyDeleteExactly! While it is true then What is the Health Minister doing? Does it mean all our hospitals are equipped with world class equipment....It's not yet uhuru.....You need to do more especially in Primary Health care centres; that should be your key focus.....
DeleteDon’t mind him. That standard of care the abroadians are coming for, can a regular Nigerian afford it?. No be the same Uk our former presido go camp for 90 days?. But me , I can afford the same level of care mrs Coker dey quote here .
DeleteHow many Nigerians can ACCESS standard health care in our primary , secondary and tertiary healthcare system. I saw a video of a health care center the other day . I don’t even want to talk. While I’m not blaming the minister, cos the rot didn’t start today, he should stop defending crap and actually start fixing the rot
Yes, except you have an appointment I doubt that you can randomly see the doctor.
ReplyDeleteWell he should have provided context that Nigerians living in diaspora (not Americans or British like it sounded) come home to their country for medical treatment due to cost of care, not the quality. Our quality is still not up to par and needs a lot of work. Another area of focus should be our public health. Cleanliness will prevent a lot of illnesses.
ReplyDeleteIt's well
ReplyDeleteOur government needs to do better in our health facilities.
I heard the waiting list over there is not a joke that some people even die waiting for Dr appointment.
ReplyDeleteNot like Nigeria that you will go to the hospital on your next visit you are sure of seeing a consultant after clerking
@Chichi, don't always believe what you read or hear, do your own research, especially in this era of fake news, deep fakes and the like!
DeleteAs someone who lives in the diaspora, the long wait times are true. And a significant portion of the population do not have a family doctor. Also many ppl died during covid waiting for cancer surgery and even heart surgery. In Canada it's long wait times, in the US high costs, in the UK long wait times and shytty health personnel.
DeleteNigerian healthcare is better if you have the funds to go private. Some government hospital are not included in this talk. So dilapidated
ReplyDeleteIf Daddy freezer can support this one, that means it's so true
ReplyDeletePls dont believe everything you hear, some Nigerians in the diaspora, there are procedures , the delay , makes them come home to seek medications. Pls don't mind them.
DeleteI can say here for free that this is entirely true. There is a particular surgeon. A renowned neurologist with the LSUTH. Dr Taiwo Ojo. People come from other countries just to see him. You would be on a waiting list for weeks just to see him. Myself, I was on a waiting list for close to a month before I was able to see him. His patients are mostly foreigners and not even Nigerians. So, yes,it is like he said.
