Access Holdings Late CEO Herbert Wigwe's Sister Reveals Her Family Has Suffered Great Betrayals

Joyce Wigwe, sister of the late Herbert Wigwe, former Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of Access Holdings Plc, has spoken out about the deep betrayals and mistreatment her family has suffered in the aftermath of his passing.

Speaking at a one-year memorial for her late brother, Joyce expressed her family’s devastation, saying they had been betrayed by those they once considered brothers.
“People we thought of as brothers have really let the family down,” she said. “Daddy and Mommy trusted them implicitly, but we’ve come to see that they were not what we believed them to be.”

She revealed that the emotional toll had deeply affected their parents’ health.
“Because of this, Daddy actually fell ill—we almost lost him. Mommy also broke down because of the trust they had placed in them. This has made the journey incredibly difficult and heart-wrenching for them.”

Joyce recounted an incident in their family’s village, where individuals she accused of betrayal arrived but refused to pay their respects.
“They didn’t even come to see us. Worse still, they wouldn’t let us through the gates.”

She alleged that her brother, Emeka, was physically assaulted during the encounter.
“They muzzled my brother, treated him terribly, and even threw him to the ground. The car almost ran over him three times. They tried to hit him with their car.”
According to Joyce, Emeka, out of frustration, eventually retaliated, and a photo capturing that moment was later used against him.
“When he managed to break free and defend himself, he threw a blow—and that was the moment they captured in a picture.”

She claimed that Emeka was later arrested at night, accused of fighting with operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS).
“But nobody took pictures of when he was almost crushed by cars three times,” she added.

Joyce also criticised the heavy security presence at the memorial, questioning the motives of some attendees.

“Herbert’s daughter was accompanied by armed personnel in no less than ten cars. You begin to wonder—did they really come to pay respects, or was it something else?”
She noted that their mother, who had devoted herself to Herbert’s well-being since childhood, was particularly heartbroken.
“This was the child who had the most health problems growing up. She cared for him and devoted herself to him. And yet, this same child was the one who stood up, put them on the map, and gave them a life they could never have dreamed of.”
Joyce concluded by lamenting the absence of support from those they once considered close.
“If the friends and family we thought we had stood by us, my parents would have been comforted. But they haven’t been comforted at all.”

Herbert Wigwe tragically lost his life in a helicopter crash on February 9, 2024, near the Nevada border in California, USA. The accident also claimed the lives of his wife, Doreen; their first son, Chizi; and Abimbola Ogunbanjo, former group chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group Plc (NGX Group), among others.
Since his death, the Wigwe family has reportedly been embroiled in legal disputes over his estate, compounding their grief.

    2. Herbert leaving out his parents in his Will, in my opinion is not out of animosity

He probably never envisaged dying before them...

May God bring wisdom in this matter

I also feel the family feel more entitled than his adopted children...

Only God knows why he couldn't have more and what really triggered that crash spiritually

Legal battles when someone dies and leaves properties behind is one of the worst experiences of life.

      Humans are indeed TERRIBLE...

A DEAD MAN HAS NO FRIEND!

    3. He certainly must have been providing for his parents adequately.
It is expected that should continue from his Estate.
      Have they been so assured?
Even some Wills Laws of some States say parents cannot be left without provision .
Some religions in Nigeria so say
Native Law and Custom and Tradition support care for parents from their children Estate

      His family feel entitled?
      Naturally so.
      And rightly so too.
The Estate is big enough for their needs.

      Should the children benefit?
      Legally so.

      The problem here is
      GREED
Greed of those misleading the children
reed of those who do not want to fully disclose all they know about his Estate and see the children as more malleable and are using them as facades.
      Greed by some family members.
Greed as sown in the hearts of the oldest child by those selfishly manipulating her.

Greed because there is never enough for one man or woman's greed
Though there is a enough for everybody's need.

    2. You all are supportive of Tochi but the girl is living a very reckless life. Those that know her well would know what I'm talking about. She needs to do better if she's ready to fight for her right cause they all know her lifestyle is not right. Her parents did a bad job raising her . I once talked about this last week but posted it late.

  3. You see this woman, I won’t be surprised if she’s the one that sent their aged father to be dragging properties!!!

There’s a reason Herbert put his friends in charge and not his family members. He probably knows the kind of people they are.

    1. You just voiced out my thoughts, see the way she referred to the children as Herbert's children, as if they are not close.
So the property she's dragging, is it a compensation to Mama, for taking care of sick Herbert as a young child?

    2. She's the one. God help the remaining children ki won ma pa won je AminJesu. It is well.

  9. Now we know those really fighting fr the man’s properties

Imagine the slur on the daughter, asking why she came with securities and wondering if she came to pay her respect to her own Dad and Mum
You are foolish ma for that question
You are angry she was heavily guarded and you couldn’t have your evil access to her

  10. Don’t go through the corners my dear. Talk if you want talk. I don’t know what’s happening in you guys family but this lady seems to have forgotten that Herbert had a nuclear family. Respect his nuclear family and stand on the sidelines sometimes. What are you people fighting for?.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Was there a will that includes his parents and siblings?
. because I know many people don't include their parents in their wills, nobody prays to die before their parents..
If not then the daughter needs wisdom to handle her uncles and aunts ..

    ReplyDelete

    1. They should allow her handle her father's properties by herself. They just need to advise her. I am very sure she would provide for her grand parents.

    2. Sharon there is a will and trust...You don't expect a son to share his assets with his father but to his wife and family...at the time, Herbert wrote his will; he won't have expected his father would outlive him...Do you know the family dynamics? There is no need coming from Tochi this way...

  13. I know part of the bone of contention are the adopted kids. I don't know why some families never accept adopted kids and always want to throw them under the bus in situations like this

    Wicked family

  14. Why would a family become so conflicted at a point when the need each other most. I pity Herbert kids more. They may may never have blood relatives to go back to after this. My prayers remains with them.

    1. AIG should adopt them, AIG wife is like a mother to them before and indeed they both meant it when they said they'll look after the children.
You need to see both Joyce and Emeka's tribute, they cannot lie Herbert and Chizoba did not do enough for them. Joyce was praising Chizoba and I'm here wondering why you will choosr to torment her seeds this way

  16. Since I heard of the tousle over Herbert’s estate I have been thinking of the harassment and trouble his wife would have gone through if she had been alive. I pray God’s guidance and protection for Herbert’s children.

    1. Exactly. The wife would have seen premium shege 😔😔😔

    2. If the wife were to be alive, the extended family would probably have been crying wolf that she killed her husband, so she can inherit all their son solely worked for. They would have accused her of shutting out his parents who raised him (as if parents were not supposed to raise the kids they invited into the world) and his siblings who made him the successful banker he became, by being his siblings.
These ones would have made the wife's life a living hell.
Mohbad's case comes to mind ... Wunmi, God will vindicate you.
'Tochi, God will guide and guard you.
Aig, keep being there for your 'daughter'.

  17. Shameless Extended Family

You are referring to your Niece as Herbert’s Daughter, Imagine and you have the Audacity to drag Properties bequeathed to her by her Late Parents

God, Please Envelope Tochi and her younger siblings and give her the wisdom to act properly and shield her from evil Eyes, Amen

  21. We have come to realize that sometimes words, and actions are taken out of context. We don’t have the full picture, and maybe never will. Until all the parties come out to speak— even then, everyone speaks from their POV, and not necessarily exactly what it is— let us exercise some caution.

If anything, we should be praying and hoping that a family is not divided for any reason. May they all receive wisdom to do the right thing, and to continue to honor the legacy of their father, brother, son, uncle, friend, mentor/ mother, sister, wife, friend, aunty, mentor— whoever both Mr. Herbert and his wife, Mrs. Chizoba were to them.

    ReplyDelete
  22. But Herbert left enough fir everyone to be comfortable. Why d fight? Greed. The family wants more or equal to d children's share? Joke. Talmbout mother took care of Herbert cos he was sickly. Was it not her duty? And did Herbert not reciprocate?
