Access Holdings Late CEO Herbert Wigwe's Dad Sues His Daughter Tochi Over His Estates

A year after the tragic passing of Dr. Herbert Wigwe, the former Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings Plc, his 90-year-old father, Shyngle Wigwe has reportedly taken his first daughter Tochi Wigwe to court over his assets.

In October last year, reports surfaced that Pastor Shyngle Wigwe’s family had a concealed interest in the late banker’s children’s inheritance and allegedly attempted to disinherit them by altering Herbert Wigwe’s will. However, the family strongly denied these claims.

Subsequently, a caveat challenging the late banker’s will surfaced online. It was filed by Christian Chukwuka Wigwe, who claimed to be a cousin of the deceased, on behalf of the deceased’s father, Pastor Shyngle Wigwe.

The filing of the caveat filed at the Probate Registry challenging the distribution of the late banker’s Estate as contained in his will forced the family, especially its patriarch, Pastor Shyngle Wigwe, to retract their earlier denials, which subsequently turned into statements like “we have withdrawn the suit. Our concern was the welfare of the children.”

While the court ruling reported by the media today showed that the family lied about withdrawing the suit challenging the distribution of the late banker’s Estate, joining the 26-year-old Miss Otutochi Channel Wigwe, late Herbert Wigwe’s daughter, in a suit involving Uche Wigwe and Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede.

However, the court has safeguarded the children from the Wigwe family’s claims by ruling that Pastor Shyngle Wigwe and Christian Chukwuka Wigwe are “not entitled to seek the reliefs” presented before it.

Herbert Wigwe was among six people who lost their lives on February 9, 2024, when the Eurocopter EC130 they were traveling in crashed near Nipton, California. The tragic incident also claimed the lives of his wife, Doreen Chizoba Wigwe, his 29-year-old son, Chizi Wigwe, former Nigerian Exchange Group Plc Chairman, Abimbola Ogunbanjo, and two crew members.

She's living a very reckless life going from club to club with her older Les partner and friends, always partying wildd(dddddd with strippers and doing the worst imaginable.

They should sit down to settle this issues..
This is one thing I like about the Muslim sharia law, once a person dies, they share the properties to all his family members with the kids having the larger part but not all..

    ReplyDelete

    1. Yes Sharon, that is because, in the Qur’an, the sharing formula is clearly stipulated, everybody knows what they are supposed to get, so no room for another person’s opinion. For instance now, i am a female, i already know what portion of my husband’s wealth i will get if he dies, same with him, he knows the portion of what i have that he is entitled to when i die, same wt kids and their parents, siblings and all. That is why u wud hardly ever hear disputes on a muslim deceased person’s estate.
For my Christian brothers, i tell them this, since there is no such provisions under ur religious law, make sure u tidy up well, write a will, make it clear and concise, do it in the presence of witnesses. Don’t leave anything to ambiguity, be straight forward, that way when one is no more, even the courts will have no option but to give effect and validity to ur Will.

    3. The owner of the property didn't want to follow sharia law and didn't wa t to leave his sweat to his siblings. He left everything to his children. No matter how old that will is, his choosing not to update it shows he still agreed with it. His siblings should go and work. If Herbert was waiting to inherit a relative, where would he be today?

Amongst the remaining children of pastor Shyngle, they can raise 200k per child every month to give their parents a comfortable life.

She is young that is the more reason she should fight for inheritance, she has her whole life ahead of her. In fact she has all the time in the world and that is a luxury that the 90 yr old grandpa cannot afford.

What is grandpa of 90 years doing with properties. Moreover the grandpa retired as a director in the Nigerian civil service, why e dey shook eyes for his grandchildren inheritance.

If the girls says she wants to squander the money, it is not anyone's business. Her papa made the money, her papa willed it to her. Or you think her father that willed it to her instead of the grandfather is unwise like you?

When you make your own money, will it to your father or mother instead of your children, after all they will take care of your children very well when you die.

You think a father will love his grandkids more than his own children?

    4. Not true, if Herbert did not trust them enough while he was alive and trusted third party's most. You think Herbert does not know why he did it? The third party's are Herbert's long term friend+close business associate and Hebert's lawyer.

That being said, there is no way grandfather will love grandkids more than his own children. The kids are better off without them, not with the way Herbert's other siblings have been fighting in the media.

He has a will, let the will be executed as he wrote. Herbert made the money and wrote the will, you can't tell me it is right for the father to go against the will, no matter what. Even if the children squanders the wealth, e no concern anybody. Na Herbert make money, na him born children, na him still die and wrote his will. So it should be respected and no one should change anything.

  29. If you follow the case and read up everything.

    My observations are:

Herbert wrote clearly his will without ambiguity.

His lawyer is his cousin Uche Wigwe and also Herbert has a long term friend and close business partner Aig, whom together they bought access bank. Infact, Aig handed over ceo of access to Herbert. They both co own three huge companies.

This being said, Aig with his influence is standing for his friend and ensuring his will goes as stipulated with his lawyer to administer the will.

Instead, Herbert's father and siblings, wants the lawyer to step down and their father should be included asone of the people to execute the will. This is against Herbert's will.

Also, Herbert's Siblings and father wants to oversee for the wellbeing of Herberts 4 minor children. Only one of her daughters (26 years) is an adult.

However, Aig and his lawyer have secured injunction that the 26 year old should look after her siblings and not the grand father or uncles. Which I think makes sense, considering how greedy the grandfather and uncles have shown themselves to be.

Also, Herbert's father and siblings, even though they were willed something but they think it's not enough and wants the court to also include that the welfare of themselves and those of their respective families sould be taken care from the estate willed to the children. Ofcourse Aig through his influence is making sure this does not go through.

In my own judgement, eventhough aig is human, the children are better of under his supervision than the Wigwe's considering the long standing relationship he had with their father while alive.
I think it is a case of a good friend standing for his deceased friend.
