DeleteYou know priests are trained like military men somehow.
The day I crossed over from ebube muonso in uke, immediately it was 12pm he said everyone should throw knockout but immediately it's 12:20 he hears any sound he will curse the person standing on the altar, you know why because he was about to enter the Eucharist that's the holy communion time but do u know someone still has to throw knockout in the middle of the Eucharist.
People can test your patience and you know that time is the most sensitive time in mass.
I hold priests in high esteem though am sorry for what happened

DeleteThis is so terrible. I know these acts can become extreme & irritating, even dangerous to an extent but who uses a sledgehammer to kill a mosquito? Let the law take it's course. So sad for the families of the boys. They needed punishing not death.

The priest must have mistaken them for armed robbers. Who knows.
Some priest live in parish house without security men, he probably shot trying to defend himself.
But hey am not justfying .

Nigerians always like to dare people! These fireworks can trigger a heart attack for very old people!

They triggered the priest! He is a human being; and I think he over reacted! He should have just called the police! Nigeria police will now say; someone should come and write statement! People should be careful; how they celebrated!
That is not causing distress to other people!!! Even inside this new year; everyone should be careful!
Some kind of noise triggers unnecessary anger in some people! Let's all be careful and respect other people's preferences for quietness.
It was one person I heard was dead. He was trying to scare them away, accidentally it was discharged. In this case nobody wants to hear his intention or how it happened.
DeleteI remember coming here to literally beg for giveaways for my late neighbors kids only for them to spend their Christmas break and the little money they barely have throwing knock outs @ my backyard. Didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
ReplyDeleteThe vast majority of children cannot do critical thinking, they operate on impulse and what brings joy in the moment, this is why they are children. Too often adults expect children to behave more like adults when their frontal lobes haven't even developed yet. Biologically, they just cannot do it. Heck, even us adults do not use critical thinking all the time and still make mistakes with our money regularly.
DeleteWhen you live in a state of constant fear and get jittery then this is what happens. The fact that a priest felt he needed a weapon speaks to the level of fear he feels. Now, he could be living in a rough area, maybe he gets terrorized all the time because of who he is. The Word speaks over and over about not living in fear and having a courageous spirit to face whatever. Imagine being so mentally distressed that he couldn't even reason that the firecrackers were not gunfire on a holiday no less. Mr. Priest, you killed those innocent folks and now you will have to face your sentencing. You should have entered a monastery if the society was getting to you. Monasteries and Convents are still in business and accepting the devout.

ReplyDeleteI don't even blame the priest. With the rate at which priests are kidnapped and killed daily, I want to believe he mistook the banger sounds as gun shots and instincts told him to protect himself. This is a case of self defence. Any child who had the guts to leave the streets and take banger to chc to cause commotion and insult God deserves whatever he got. Christians should do better.
