PINKYS CORNER

The experience I had in one village called OYAN in Osun State is not a good one at all. I went there on Friday to attend a burial ceremony. I got to the village very tired due to the distance. The village is along ikirun. You get to a bus stop called Konta then you board another bus to the village.

My friend showed me a room I will crash but sincerely, I couldn't because, I have to sleep on the mat and that room is not good for my health at all (you know those old building village houses now). So, I decided to get hotel. They have only 2 hotels in that village and the only place to get hotel again is the next village called ASABA. The first hotel was filledd up. Then I moved to the next which happens to be in a filling station (Motel). I had no option and paid for a room.

I got back to my friend's place and told him about my plans and he was cool with it. I got back to the hotel because I was so tired and hungry. I asked them if I can order from kitchen and the response was funny. "Bread ati pepper soup nikan lo wa" . I shall bought 2 bottles of malt and one small bread. I couldn't sleep well because, I was scared of the filling station. I had to send my location to some people In case of fire outbreak at the filling station then we all in that hotel are gone niyen. At least, my people go still recognize my skull and my bones.

At about 11pm, my friend called me to please help accommodate someone who just came and had no where to sleep. I asked him to bring the person down to the hotel because as for me, I can't step out because no be my village. After a while, they got to the reception and called. I ushered him in and my friend left. It was the worse mistake ever made in my life.. The guy was just snoring all through and I was forced to sit upright on the bed and I couldn't even play with my phone because I had 7% and hotel no on Generator, stating nasty reasons.

The guy was snoring and even changing gears. I just sat on the bed and rested my back on the wall. I was able to close my eyes around 4am and slept till 11am.
I dressed up the next morning and took my bag straight to venue. The venue was another thing entirely.
At 2:30pm, Pastors were not through with programs in church. I was told the program started around 1pm when they all came back from where they went to wish mama farewell . I went into the church to see for myself and I saw my friend still dancing. Ok now. 3pm on the dot, I left the church and got to the town bus garage. If I don't leave at that time, it's gonna be so stressful getting to Ibadan considering the distance. My friend called at about 4:55pm asking my whereabout. Told him I've gone and baba thought I was angry but nop. I got to osogbo and got a nice place to eat make baba no go slump.
Let's learn to caution our pastors or Iman or anyone handling our program to be smart and time conscious. You can't be delaying people in the name of program that are stylishly meant to get money from people. That you stay in that community doesn't give you the whole time to stress visitors. I keep saying it, if I've anything to do lasan, I will give pastor warning ni ooo. Alot of people left the venue because some of them came from Lagos and they needed to back home.

Pastors must use every trick to make their monies if they are not well settled...You are here complaining, na you sabi...For my Dads burial, we promised them special food sent to them and we settled ahead of event...Ire oooooooo

At a point I got tired of the locks as I don't like wigs because of heat. I cut them off before one year.

That advice for married men, some points are ridiculous 🤔

  38. Stella, consider locking your hair. I was once unsure about what to do with mine, but after taking someone's advice to lock it, I found it to be a great solution. Perhaps due to my high pain tolerance, I didn't experience the discomfort others mentioned. Now, I simply style it every two weeks and I'm good to go.

I totally forgot about the exams and the registration of it. I'm upset that I'm begging her to allow me pay normal fee without extra charge but she's not willing to accept it.
The whole thing has ruined my day becos this extra charge could be added money to it to pay school fees.

  43. Stories from my mother's hut

    Surpriser

Ifeatu, Ifeatu, Ifeatu ! Mum called her for the umpteenth time. Bring your report card as you are coming. Have I told you my immediate younger is Ifeatu? . This child is never available for domestic chores but reappears soon as food is ready and served.

Awulukwe got tired of complaining about her. No amount of disciplinary measures seems to work. Mum once parcelled her clothes in a Ghana must go bag and sent her off to stay briefly with her elder sister. A holiday which was meant for a week lasted only two days. Aunty Charity sent her back that she just wouldn't wake up on time. Mum asked her sister if she rang the mgbiringba? Sister Charity replied No.

My elder sister Ezinne suggested to mum to enroll her at surpriser art and science tutorial. Awulukwe was adamant and asked what kind of tutorial centre is surpriser art.

Ifeatu was enrolled for extra tutorials alongside Ezinne. As soon as school dismisses, Ezinne drags her along for extra coaching. While mum tends to the home front with me.

I passed by the tutorial centre at 4pm bearing with me the mini cooler of lunch for Ezinne and Ifeatu . I chuckled when I heard the nursery kids singing along
    surpriser art and science.
    Surpriser art and science .

I was surprised at the commitment in their voices. One would have expected them to sing the Queens primer " I go up , up I go"

I took permission from the tutorial owner and dropped the food for my siblings. Mr surpriser asked me if the food was for Ezinne or Ifeatu ? I told him for both. He said Ifeatu should be given light food to help her shed some weight. That the weight of an individual is proportionate to what the individual can comprehend at same time.

I didn't know what that meant at my young age. I promised I was going to relay the message to mum. I got home just in time to meet Aunt Emezie packing for her journey scheduled the next day. I told her what the teacher said. She was sarcastic and mad , does Mr surpriser want her to starve ? He should surprise us with the performance of the child, aunt Emezie stated.

It was one eventful day during the third term in school. We were waiting for Ifeatu to come home with her report card. By the way she came 22nd in her last result.
Mum told her anything less than 20th position she will disown her. I didn't think that threat hold water at all. I expected mum to say "Anything less than 20th position no food for two days". Food is ifeatu's driving force.

They entered the back door and met mum already waiting for them. Let me have the report card as she stretched forth her hand. Ifeatu was already shivering and probably peed on her self. I was also anxious for her because I knew what mum was capable of. Mum had already made a resolve that afternoon that Ifeatu will be placed only on water for lunch and a rationed food portion for the next seven days.

Mum opened the report card, I held my breath for complete twenty seconds. Ezinne was also clutching her bossom. We were all waiting for the worst to happen. You could hear a pin drop.

Mum read out the result from the report sheet. Twelfth position out of twenty five. Mum looked up at Ezinne , ifeatu and I.
Nnenne, take one cock from the fowl cage and send it to Mr surpriser. Surpriser has surprised us.

Mum started the umu ada chorus. Inserting surpriser in the song...

Surpriser ni edia anyi nma mbgongbo .
    Surpriser edia anyi nma mbgongbo
Onye chimeleze ni edia anyi nma .
Mum danced away in Awka tongue while clutching the report sheet.

    1. I want to talk about something but that will be tomorrow or next. It's all about we expectant parents. I engaged a lady some days ago and what she told me ehn. Infact, I got home and reflected on what I've spent and swhat I've gone through in the name of having my own child then I began to cry. I cried all through yesterday and I couldn't even step out of my house let alone going to church. I'm so emotional. My wife is much stronger than myself when it comes to issues like that.

Anyways, God will answer everyone in my shoes this year In Jesus name.

  59. It's not a bad thing for a married man to celebrate other women in his life on social media, like his mother, siblings and cousins, so far he's also celebrating his wife.
Celebrating your wife on social media and using her as DP or screen saver do not mean he won't cheat, I've seen a lot of married men that do these and still cheat like no other.
Stella maybe you should lock your hair if you won't be tired of carrying one look, a lot of people have told me to lock my hair because my hair is very full, though not too long, but I can't, because I will be tired of carrying one look.

    1. Ah! Trim bawo😩 See advice na.

Stella, please I am sorry, I misunderstood your question.

To soften your hair, there are many deep conditioners and leave-in conditioners you can use.

If you want the home made one's, there is the okra/okro water method. I saw someone use it and the hair came out looking like Fulani natural curly hair. I will try it during okra season.

Use unheated okra water, apply it all over your hair, allow it to stay for up to 30 minutes , then wash off. Some other person's say they add cloves to their okra water but the one I saw practically used only okra water.

If you don't want that type of deep conditioner, get avacado pear, apply to your hair, let it stay for 30minutes, wash them off and apply normal leave-in conditioners. You can also blend boiled rice and use as deep conditioner too.I use these ones but not regularly. They will make your hair fuller and you already have full hair so no need.

Just use a good leave-in conditioner , this will soften the texture very well

Second Stage, ( I use this)Buy Olive oil, you can add other natural oils suitable for hair if you wish, blend zobo leaves((hibiscus flower), cloves, cinnamon sticks and rosemary leaves , mix them in with the oil, apply on your scalp and scrub your head for blood circulation. After few minutes, your hair will come out really soft .

I will look for the name of very good leave-in conditioners for you. The ones am using are poor man own😛

Please don't use any hair stretcher or heater on your hair except the water you are using to wash your hair. You will really enjoy your natural hair if you use good conditioners and oils with those orishirishi in the oil.

Don't worry, I will send names of good conditioners to you.

  62. I have natural Afro hair that is very tightly curled.

    1. Never comb it dry. Spray it with water if dry, then apply a good leave-in conditioner. I don’t use Shea butter as it dries out my hair, but it may be good for you.

    2. Always comb into sections. Never comb all of it at once if your hair is very tightly curled and thick, the comb will not go through. I always comb in 10-16 sections and plait each section after combing if not it will curl and shrink back.

    3. Wash with a good shampoo and deep conditioner.

    4. Get someone to come to your house maybe once a month and make your hair. Something like small to medium size twists. It will mimic the look of locs and will make it easy for your to take care of your hair. I’m sure it will also look very beautiful on you.

    5. Another option is to always go get it blown out and silk-pressed (straightened). However note that this will permanently straighten your curls over time.
I also feel that your natural curly hair will fit you more than straight hair.

  63. I saw the beauty of Afro hair and followed the crowd, Mehn, I regretted it, I couldn't comb it, couldn't style it, and my hair is very long, nobody told me to retouch my hair again. Abeg, no more afro hair for me again.

    Good afternoon everyone.

  65. I laughed so much reading Pinky’s message. The snoring thing happened to me too while sharing a hotel room with others and that woman could snore down any man. The thing that annoys me with snorers is that they fall asleep so quickly and the person who doesn’t snore is left to their sleeplessness. Every person that I know of who is a snorer as soon as their head hits the pillow they are fast asleep.

Stella, I wish I had your problem. My hair is very fine and lacks the fullness I desire but it is manageable. There is an entire community on YouTube around natural hair. Since you have a bit of time to spare these days you can explore it. Very nice to learn that your healing journey is going well and you are getting back to yourself.
