Borno State government has confirmed the killing of 40 farmers in Kukawa Local Government Area, LGA. The Sunday attack by suspected Boko Haram terrorists also left many people missing. Confirming the incident in a statement, the state Commissioner for Information and Internal Security, Prof Usman Tar, described the attack as an act of terrorism.


 The Federal Government said on Monday that there was no end to frequent national grid collapses in the country. Speaking in Abuja when he appeared before the Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe-led Senate Committee on Power to defend the 2025 budget, the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, said the national electricity grid remains vulnerable to frequent collapses.

 The value of eNaira, the digital currency of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, rose by 78.8 percent year-on-year, YoY, to N18.32 billion in the first ten months of 2024, Q3’24 from N11.66 billion in the corresponding period of 2023. This is according to data from the CBN.

Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested a gospel singer, Timilehin Ajayi, for allegedly killing and dismembering his 24-year-old girlfriend, Salome Enejo, a member of the National Youth Service Corps, for suspected ritual purposes. The command’s spokesperson, Ramhan Nansel said that Enejo was a corps member serving in Abuja before she was brutally murdered by the suspect.

 The loading cost of Premium Motor Spirit, petrol and other refined petroleum products at the depots increased on Monday. It was gathered that marketers raised petrol and diesel prices at depots by N43 or 4.74 per cent due to the rising crude oil prices.

 The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has deployed a high-level fact-finding team to Zamfara State over alleged accidental bombing of civilian casualties during Saturday’s operation by NAF in the state. The accidental bombing reportedly happened in Kakindawa village, Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State, with 16 vigilantes allegedly killed.

 A man, Mathias Amunde, has been arrested by the Cross River State Police Command for allegedly killing his mother with a stick in the Obudu Local Government Area of the state. It was learnt that the suspect alongside an accomplice smashed a stick on his mother, dragged her body outside and threw it inside a well.

 The two abducted reverend sisters, identified as Vincentia Maria Nwankwo and Grace Mariette Okoli, have regained freedom after spending about six days with their captors. The reverend sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Mother of Christ, were reportedly kidnapped on Tuesday along the Ufuma Road in Orumba North Local Government Area of the state, on their way back from a vocational association’s meeting in Ogboji.

A Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt on Monday sacked Chukwuemeka Aaron, the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state. Justice Stephen Jumbo in his ruling nullified the PDP ward, local government and state congresses held in the state in July 2024.

Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, President of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, has confirmed the release of a Port Harcourt-based lawyer, Kelvin Okorie, who has been in detention since September 2024.
 Okorie, who was initially detained by the Nigerian Navy, was on Friday, transferred to the Nigerian Police Force following direct intervention by the NBA.
According to a statement by the NBA President, Okorie was received by members of the association in Abuja on Monday after his freedom.
