Barely a week after killing two police officers, terrorists belonging to the Lakurawa group have killed three staff of a leading telecommunication firm. The insurgents were said to have invaded a construction site at Gumki village in Arewa Local Government Area of Kebbi State.


President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has departed Abuja for the United Arab Emirates, UAE. The President is expected to participate in the 2025 edition of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week. Tinubu took off from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja at about 6:30 pm.

 The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has invited Subomi and Wahab, sons of billionaire industrialist, Razaq Okoya, for interrogation over alleged abuse of the naira. The invite was issued despite a public apology from one of the boys, who expressed remorse for his actions and asked Nigerians for forgiveness.

 The Lagos State Police Command has dismantled robbery gangs targeting Uber drivers, arresting seven suspected members of separate gangs. One of the gangs, a four-man group, included a United States returnee who stabbed an Uber rider to death in an attempt to steal his Toyota Camry, on Thursday, January 9, 2025.

Former Commissioner for Rural and Community Development in Kano State, Abbas Sani Abbas, has joined the All Progressives Congress, APC, from the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP, adding to the increasing number of defectors from the party. Abbas announced his defection from the NNPP during a visit to the Kano residence of the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin.

 Akinola Market, a weekly marketplace in Ipetumodu, Osun State, was engulfed by fire, destroying goods worth millions of naira. The incident, which occurred late on Friday, caused panic among traders who had all gone home after the day’s activities. Many rushed back to the market in distress after receiving calls about the inferno.

 Two factory workers, who were rescued after they got trapped while working on a diesel reservoir in the Ikosi area of Lagos State, have been confirmed dead. It was learnt that the workers were rescued by officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency and men of the Lagos State Fire Service.

 At least 11 persons sustained varying degrees of injuries following a multi-vehicle collision that occurred along the Interchange section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Saturday. A statement signed by the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency spokesman, Babatunde Akinbiyi, said the accident occurred at about 7:30 am.
