CHRONICLE OF A MARRIED MAN

I travelled home for the Christmas holidays, to rest, mingle with my folks and be updated on happenings in my family house.

Before leaving, we had bought some clothes and other gifts for the children there, on our way we bought family sized loaves of bread, to be shared to each family there.

While there, I contributed money for the goat they killed and the food they cooked in the family house. After the Christmas day, they kept requesting money from me for different purposes in the house..

I gave them the ones I could afford.

The one that off'ed me was when they requested money to buy light on the prepaid meter. Light that they used and will still use after I leave? I gave them 2k and told them to add money and buy. (I trust myself, I don't do big boy at my detriment, they won't give me transport fare back to my base).
My people, I didn't wait for New year day, I ran to my mother's place, told them I want my kids to spend time with her.
She was more considerate, I spent little money there..
After New year celebration, I came back to my base.
The following week, the calls started coming in, demanding money for this and that, I told them I was yet to recover from the money I spent for my visit, that I don't have 1kobo to give to anyone.
I don't blame them, na me carry myself go meet them. No more travelling home for Christmas until further notice. I will be resting in my apartment henceforth.

  1. You won't run away from home because of your people and entitlement mentality. That's how they see anybody that lives in the city. For their minds you pluck money there.
Are you still in the family house?

    2. I'm telling you. If you live in the city, you are swimming in money. Imagine asking for money after you left them in January when everywhere is dry.
They spend lesser than people in the city yet they won't let you rest.

    5. 14:51 you are so correct. We see abroad dwellers as if they are swimming in money but that one is different nau, we spend different currencies and the system is different. Their currency and the system they live in are far better than ours in Nigeria, so it's right to see them as big people.
Don't you know how much a dollar or pound is to the naira?

    6. 15:53 it's not right to see them as rich people because they are spending the currency over there and not in Nigeria where the money has more value.

  5. People see you as a father Christmas whenever you travel to your town or village for Christmas or Sallah celebration. You can't travel and relax in peace without spending so much. The best is to remain in your location if you are low on cash.
