He says
''We are divided already in the industry you people want to divide us further Actor Femi Branch says as he calls out cinemas over favoritism displayed to one film over the other in cinemas.
“I want to quickly talk about this ever since I went to the cinema to do meet and greet for toyin Abraham on her film alakada bad and bougee. I wanted to talk about this but I have been having that reservation because I don’t see anybody in the industry talking about it and I know that people know what is going on. I am talking about cinemas promoting one film above the other. It is so bad that cinemas staff in some cinema wear the T-shirt of one of film, they remove the media card of some films they remove it from the counter and put some others there.
In some cinemas, cinemas will be telling people this is the best film to watch, this is the one that is burning. In some cinemas, cinemas change somebody else time for another person, you know that by this time you are supposed to watch this film they have already published that, now you go there and they are now saying no that they are not putting that one you ask them why they say no don’t worry this film is better go and watch this one this is the film that is hot.
It is not the business of the cinema to tell anybody what film to watch. That is why we have been having a lot of problems at the cinemas recently, especially this December. We have heard of different fights at different cinemas where some fans fought the cinema staff. ‘This industry is always under bondage of somebody or something’ is either when we are in bondage under marketers God delivered us now we are under bondage on streaming platforms that will carry somebody’s film.
We are battling with mediators who will collect film from your hand to sell to Netflix or to sell to amazon and they will have one agreement with Netflix and they will come and tell you the producer another thing.
They will collect money from Netflix or amazon and they will tell you it is another amount that Netflix offered and they will still collect their percentage. Now we are battling with cinemas taking the sides of one film over the other trying to scatter or divide the industry. We are divided already and you people want to add your division what happened”

ReplyDeleteThe Matter Pass Politics ooo..
Bribery and Corruption
I can't deal abeg... Nawoooooo
Hello iya Boys
Politics everywhere.
ReplyDeleteSince Funke that has invested basically everything one can invest in marketing hit 1 billion, these ones have come out as usual. Even Pere with a movie no one has heard about is also coming out to cry nepotism πππ.
ReplyDeleteAnd you believed " everybody loves jenifa" has hit one billion? With the bad review everywhere who would want to settle for such movie abeg make I no laugh.. Nigerian movies has lost it
DeleteNo, it didn’t bit 1 billion, it hit 1naira π
DeleteAunty wey like to cry cry shioor
DeleteNo body is talking about the film itself. Abi the film no make sense. People that watched seven doors are given good reviews but this one is only good marketing reviews we’ve been getting. Maybe people are just watching because of Jenifer.
DeleteHmmmm
ReplyDeleteTalk directly, stop going through corners.
I’m not even a fan of Funke but there’s no day I open my social media that I won’t come across her promoting her film on my timeline. She started promo for this movie about three months ago, so why won’t people go watch??
As you’re complaining, she’s already working on her new project.
Abeg give her flowers!
So tey most of us can even sing the promotional song she released for it.
DeleteStay calm for a moment and see that favoritism is playing out here. This man is right. People know what they are doing.
DeleteOga Femi for no pit mouth for this matter. Toyin should stop blaming people for her lack of markeing strategy. Do give back you no do, do give away you hold hand. A customer will always patronise the seller who gives them gifts than the one that doesn't at all. Even proverbs says it gifts do alter judgement and every man is a friend to him that giveth gifts. Toyin be wise and sit up if you want to peer with Funke
ReplyDeletePut*
ReplyDeleteAll this jealousy should be left in 2024 please
ReplyDeleteMay God bless their hustle π these ladies are really trying abeg
ReplyDeleteOluwa oh!

I pray it will be successful.
Amen π
He’s right
ReplyDeleteHmmmmmm
ReplyDeleteIt's well
You people should go and learn work from Funke and stop hating cos everyone loves Jenifa. Jenny baby sabi work pass una. Kpele oo
ReplyDeleteOmg, this is atrocious. Entertainment should always be a place where the ppl decide. The whole thing about the cinemas and their staff wearing clothing of films, I have never seen this in all my years, but I do not live in Nigeria. Changing movie times would annoy the hell out of me. Thank God I don’t jump on bandwagons and scope out my own films that I want to watch, even if they are small budget independent films with unknown actors.
ReplyDeleteI hope that you speaking out gets the conversation going. I hope none of these filmmakers hurry go post that ppl are jealous and envious, fighting against them. We always hear these bullshyt when there are those receiving unearned advantages when something important has come up.
1. Cinemas usually collect percentage on sales, as such they are not to be blamed. You need to talk to your colleagues who connive with cinemas staffs to demarket competing movies.
ReplyDelete2. You need to talk about your colleagues who decided to release 3 or 4 movies simultaneously. Some with similar cast.
Despite their differences it's hard to see Fox and Universal studios releasing their major work at the same time.
Femi Adebayo releasing his movie via Netflix is a smart move, the guy knew this PhD syndrome will happen. Despite having a better story, cast and crew he decides not to swim in the murky competition.
3. The movies is a façade, as it is meant for money laundering and cleaning dirty money for the corrupt in the society.
Wisdom π
DeleteFemi is so wise to have gone the Netflix way.
But will genuinely want to ask how they make money on Netflix, are they paid for views or production
So much unhealthy competition in this industry but people fail to realize that people have favorites actor/actress.
ReplyDeleteAnon 18:09, I agree with you. That was a smart move from Femi Adebayo.
ReplyDeleteThese people and jealousy na 5 and 6.
ReplyDeleteHmmm, inukwa π
