ReplyDeleteI served in Ogun State in Obada Oko in Ewekoro Local Government in 2010....Our set were the last people to hold camp in Remo Sagamu before the new camp was moved to Ikenne....
DeleteI was in Platoon 8 and I served as the Treasurer in my platoon....Omo guys no allow me rest for camp, I was always in mammy market every night throughout my 3 weeks because guys were always paying for my food...I didn't even spend my money sef #finegirlpriviledge.....
After early morning drills, Omo everyone was always snapping me and complimenting my beauty...I felt like Agbani Darego 😉😉
Toward the end of camp, my platoon asked that I rep them for Miss NYSC contest...I turned it down even with plenty begging even platoon commander had to intervene but I no gree abeg....My service year was eventful though saddled with a sad event towards the end of our services year, we lost a corper to a bank robbery that happened from Ilaro to near the cement factory at Ewekoro.....

I served in government science college,Kagara,Rafi LGA in Niger state.As an English teacher.It was a lovely place.With 24 hours light,water and cheap food stuffs.l had a great time there but l went back to Port Harcourt after my service year.

ReplyDeleteAs a corper with an already established business, I only went to camp to have fun more or less. Soldiers were our errand boys and were bringing contraband to us in camp for a few tips.
ReplyDeleteI didn't serve in the real meaning of it. I never set eyes on my PPA. NYSC officials at the zonal office handled all that paper work for me. They were the ones doing my clearance. I left my allawee for them.
I found love and lost it during NYSC. Had a fling or two inside camp. Camp director almost caught me with my fling one time.
I know correlation is not causation but damn! Women will sleep with a man if she can get away with it and it is discrete enough. Can't really place a number on the railings I had. Particular steady lay I had then, a corper as well, was scheduled to be married in a months. I didn't know that. Her man who was based in the UK, was doing video calls thrice daily. Sometimes video calls would be going on and his girl was getting railed. Wetin concern me. They are married now and she stupidly called my name one time when she was intimate with her husband. I no send her papa.
I used my year to just throw caution into the wind. Was fresh off a broken heart so i needed the distraction. 10/10 would do it again.

I camped in Zamfara 2017...I ate most times in mammy market cos the food they give us in camp is not dat nice...watery beans, watery soup, tuwo everytime...no semo or eba...d tea is d worst of all...sometimes u will be seeing small small particles inside d tea..They never served us chicken till I left d camp..
ReplyDeleteThe cold in Zamfara is something else and we still have to wake up for d morning drill..There are days I tell my hostel mates to lock me inside whenever I don't feel like going for drill cos of too much cold..
I tried redeploying to Abuja cos my fiance(now hubby)lives here but was later given Nasarawa state ..I ended up serving in a school in masaka..U start enjoying camp in d 2nd week and wouldn't want it to end sef..

The rooms were small and everywhere was congested. Stealing was the ordee of the day in our room. We were made to contribute money when someone's dollars got missing (can't remember the exact amount)

What I hated most about camp is that it doesn't give you time for yourself. We lived a regimented lifestyle.
Went to camp exactly a month to my wedding in 2016 and it was boring nothing spectacular.. In kebbi state
ReplyDeleteI hated so many things in camp, infact I was overstressed that my acne trippled.
ReplyDeleteI didn't like the hostel lifestyle because some people won't sleep and be causing nuisance knowing very well that some people can't sleep in the noon.
I also didn't like the toilet I went twice in three weeks because I get easily irritated, bathing was also a shore, so I wake up around 3am to bath outside.
I hated the beagle sound and all those boring lectures, that is compulsory to attend.
I looked forward to weekend foods, I almost finished my meal ticket.
I also loved the SAED program and night out.
I didn't date or made friends with any guy because I was in a serious relationship.
My bunk mate was very peaceful, infact we were namesake, had the same stature and complexion but she was Igbo.
I didn't miss camp but I miss my PPA and CDA meetings. Had fun with my crew and because I was married during service year, I was always leaving my base on Monday and return by Wednesday.
I had so many toasters despite seeing my engagement ring, my clique at the local govt was very tight, filled with beautiful, intelligent and industrious people.
Because I served in a very popular school and we were over 40,( the principal doesn't reject core members)so they knew us like money...we all get there about the same time that our LI would say (this school, ti yin Po ooo)during our CDA.
I was in the same dorm with camp officials and not even corp members, I wish I was in the same dorm with Corp members to have these experience...didn't make friends cause of that but acquainted with quite a few from camp clinic

ReplyDeleteI loved our camp at Nsulu Games Village. I loved the funfare feeling, everywhere busy.
What I didn't like was waking up early for parade.
I didn't like the toilet arrangements.
I didn't like the food, e no dey ever sweet. The tea was even worse, e be like mud.
Being a medical, camp was smooth, didn't do any drills, ate mostly in mammi market, ate camp food one Sunday just to get the feel, spent only a week at Jos camp and relocated back to tye state where I had my regular job. Co tinued regular job, attended PPA once a month ,I think it was CDS lol... was cashing out all corners.

Had fun in camp, was lucky to have meet some friends going to the same camp from park, it was a long ride.
I cried when I received my posting letter upon seeing BAKSSI on it, cos I always known that area as crisis zone and thou i never knew it was in Cross Rivers. It was a good memory, my only regret now is I've lost all my nysc pictures and contacts after my phone was stolen
Nysc in the 90s is not the same as now ,things has changed from good to bad and even ugly,only God knows what it will be in years to come
ReplyDeleteMy 3 weeks orientation camp wasn't a nice experience.My bunk was close to what was used to demarcate our hostel (an aluminum sheet), in the day it was as hot as hell, at night as cold as ice. And I forgot to take a cover cloth to camp, you are not allowed to go out.To make matter worse, the soldiers will wake you up with cold water if you waste time coming out of the hostel in the morning. I was forced to join parade just to keep me warm. I was always crying then , until I redeployed. , But I enjoyed my service year.
ReplyDeleteCamp was at iseyin in oyo state,. the promiscuity in camp was alarming even for inside church people were having sex during campfire night girls were sleeping in boys hostel them go just use cloth cover the bunk I remember one girl never spent a night in girls hostel she'll just disappear and appear in the morning

ReplyDeleteCamp was sweet with enough fish pepper from mammy market plus I was posted to lake Chad research institute along Gamboru/ Ngala road
Which is not far from custom area, where there was plenty of fish to eat
But the first time rain fell, it came with sand storm and every where was dark for some minutes and when we came out after rain, every things we left outside were gone.
But I really enjoyed M/guri.
I served in Isiala Mbano local govt Imo State in 2011.

I went back to Lagos after my Service year.
I remember before going for nysc I used to lament how much I hated it. But when I went to camp,.I realized it wasn't as bad as I thought. It's a good experience
