The Oyo State Police Command says about 35 bodies of minors, who were killed in the Ibadan stampede have been recovered.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the state, SP Osifeso Adewale, who confirmed this in a statement on Thursday, said about six minors who sustained severe injuries during the incident, are in critical condition.
A funfair organized by Prophetess Naomi Shikemi (the ex wife of the Ooni of Ife) at the Islamic High School, Bashorun, Ibadan, had resulted in stampede, leading to the tragic incident.
The Oyo State Police Command said that eight persons involved in sponsoring the event had since been arrested.
The Police spokesman said those arrested include the main event sponsor, Prophetess Naomi Silekunola, Fasasi Abdulahi, School Principal Islamic High School, Ibadan, Genesis Christopher, Tanimowo Moruf, Anisolaja Olabode, Idowu Ibrahim and Abiola Oluwatimilehin.

LICIOUS BABE
Chai, what a pity
ReplyDeleteI keep saying Earth folks should desist from giving themselves the titles of prophet and prophetess, every time these ppl put these titles on themselves something happens and you wonder.
ReplyDeleteI hope the investigations are long and detailed. This can never be allowed to happen again. Rules around these kind of events need to be implemented and enforced.
May our good not turn to evil

There's serious hunger in the land. Nigeria is bleeding 💔 . May their souls rest in peace 🙏.
DeleteWhat a sad occurrence! What were they going to give at the carnival that made people so desperate to get in? They should have planned better, especially as it involves children. May their souls rest in peace.
ReplyDeleteIt was poorly planned. It should have been done in a place that entry could be restricted. More than 5000 kids is much to handle. God please comfort the families.

ReplyDeleteMay the families of the departed be comforted
I had a dream last night about her, that she was arrested by the police, and she was pointing to three women dressed in white as the one responsible for the stampede. She said she asked the children to line up, but the three women told the children to rush for the gifts
ReplyDeleteA most interesting dream. As a prophetess who is supposedly connected to the divine she should have been ahead of this. And just because you are in the world but not of it doesn't mean you do not act when needed. Elijah surely grabbed his two legs and ran for the hills when he heard there was a bounty on his head. If she saw a situation built up that was out of control then call the event off and shut everything down. No matter how much has been spent on any event we should always put safety first and be willing to cancel or postpone anything at anytime.
DeleteThis is sad and heartbreaking, may the souls of those that died rest in peace and may God comfort their families,
ReplyDeleteOne of my prayer point everyday is May my good deeds not put me in trouble.
May this never be our portion in Jesus name.
ReplyDeleteMay our good never bring us downfall. Amen.
This is sad to read.
I' m just sad and angry at the same time!
ReplyDeleteAbeg release the organizers
ReplyDeleteI don't even know what to type. This is really heart breaking 35whole children!! Some parents might even went with four of their kids and they all died in one day 😭😭
ReplyDeleteWhat are the guidelines for crowd control as laid down by the government at the state, national and local government levels? What was their response to those laws, supposing they exist, being actively flouted? What did the people in charge of the venue do when the woman proposed this event with that crowd size? What did they do when they saw the crowd? Not everything is gra grabamd arrest. Is it until people die that those laws are broken? Traditional festivals, political rallies, religious gatherings, even market days follow o.
ReplyDeleteWhen abiomo, I mean, parents who gave birth to these children saw the crowd, why did they risk their children's lives in a stampede because of 5k?
Everything is not arrest. You will see that all noise had died down after the pepper body of the case of entertainers that died in a capsized boat and all those traveling home on water will still opt out of life jackets so that Instagram photo can set.
Where there is no law, can there be sin? Where there is no no value for the lives of human children above money that will end up in the toilet, can there be stampede? When there is no enforcement, how won't there be a sad end? When there is no plan is failure not inevitable ?
Innocent children snuffed out because of a disdain for order, a disdain for values.
It is well.
