An Osu in Nigeria refers to a clan that is an outcast and referred to as slaves and sacrifices for the gods ...It is mainly in the Eastern part of Nigeria that you find someone being tagged as an Osu and what this tagging means is that no one will agree to marry anyone tagged Osu and if they engage or marry you and find out, they end it quickly if there are no kids....The male Osu's are always very rich while the female Osu's always have good luck with men and finances...

Nk , nothing is good about them how? Please kindly come and explain
DeleteNk on an average, they are the richest. Check your village statistics well.
DeleteSome families have 3 or more unmarried daughters of marriage age.
So sad.
Just marry from the southwest, North or oyibo.
It is well.

ReplyDeleteOur Eastern will never stop this nonsense thing...
ReplyDeleteThey still do it codedly even though it has been prohibited to refer to some people as osu.
DeleteExactly Joan
DeleteThis is still happening in 2024🥺
ReplyDeleteSo sad
Really sad
DeleteNawaoooooo
ReplyDeleteWhy are they still segregating the Osu's up till now?
I was thinking this practices has been abolished in the entire Igbo Land.
Osu's from my understanding are those whom their community has banished out of their land for evil practices.
DOZZYBEST.
Same energy used to fight for Dele Farotimi should be used to fight this supposed injustice and inhumane treatment of others
ReplyDeleteWe're no longer under any curse of the law. We're saved by Grace.
ReplyDeleteWhy segregate because of the tradition of men... SMH
Hmm... In this current dispensation? Nawa oo
ReplyDelete2025 is almost here and things like dis is still going on, nawa oo SMH
ReplyDeleteSo unfair
ReplyDeleteAt this age and time, people are still talking about OSU. All these backward beliefs. Didn't he know she was OSU before proposing, or did they not do an introduction before fixing the wedding date?
ReplyDeleteIt's sad that such beliefs persist in an era where equality and individuality should trump discriminatory traditions.
This practice is still happening in Igbo Land.
ReplyDeleteStill very much in practice in the East.
ReplyDeleteThe lady should focus on marrying from other tribe.
Igbo men take this Osu thing more serious than Biafra war itself.
It is well with her!
That's all they have to do. Go where they are wanted and continue to build their wealth, prosperity and power. Once a group has power the entire narrative changes.
DeleteYou are right, they take it very serious
DeleteWhen will this end? Even amongst ourselves, there's still segregation? Na wa!
ReplyDeleteSo some people are still doing and believing in this Osu nonsense? In this time and age? Nawa o
ReplyDeleteIn this age, the osu caste system still exists? Nne pls wipe your tears &:focus on other tribes 🤗
ReplyDeleteI wonder
DeleteOh no
ReplyDeleteit's sad
ReplyDeleteMy cousin too is suppose to be getting married this month, but my uncle found out last month he's osu, that is how marriage plans ended
My people take this thing so serious, l wonder if it will end anytime soon.
It's well
I thought this has been abolished long ago?
ReplyDeleteIt hasn't oo Mary they still practice it in our side ooo
DeleteNa wa. This is unfair.
ReplyDeleteIs this still happening?
ReplyDeleteBut they said that they abolish this OSU something.😳
ReplyDeleteFor where.
DeleteStill in practice in Igbo land
I thought they have abolish this system....it is well!
ReplyDeleteOsu caste system has been abolished by law , even in village in Delta, it is still practice. In Romans, we are born free, whether slaves, Jews or Gentiles. This is barbaric, they need to Sue them
ReplyDeleteWhat is all these mentality in this present age and time? Good riddance na him loose, your own man will locate you.
ReplyDeletePlease guys, i am from another part of the country, pls m curious, what will happen if the marriage goes on?
ReplyDeleteNonsense and barbaric culture.
ReplyDeleteSo sad, may her real man locate her
ReplyDeleteHuman being like yourselves this is racism within your own tribe ?
ReplyDeleteIn my village they call it "slave " it ultimately prevented my big sister from getting married to her childhood sweet heart. while my parents were fine with the guy, they were afraid of being excommunicated ,so they call off the wedding. It's too bad.
ReplyDeleteNa wah oooo this kind culture still dey exist? 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟Miss lewisky
ReplyDeleteSee people that want to rule Nigeria, are segregating themselves in 2024.
ReplyDeleteSeriously shaking my head.
SMH
DeleteSo the PEOPLE who have been ruling Nigeria since before you were born do not have what you can shake your head about?
DeleteSometimes, our comments evoke only smiles.
Such barbaric act.
ReplyDeleteI thought this tradition has been abolished a long time ago so people still believe in this ancient practice....??
ReplyDeletePretty lady worry not your know man that will love you irrespective of being an OSU will come soonest.
If she was not called an Osu by her own tribes men/women would you have encouraged her to marry a man from outside the South Eastern States of Nigeria?
ReplyDeletePeople of the other States are only good for your brothers and sisters who you by yourselves branded?
Only questions were asked. No judgment passed.
Exactly. That's why me sef will never marry an osu. If he wasn't one, he wouldn't have even looked my way.
DeleteI have had 2 relationships crash because of tribe nonsense. I am igbo but not from any of the 5 eastern states.
Are you insinuating that it's only igbo's who are excommunicated that agree to marry from other tribes? Make you try dey talk true for this your life abeg
DeleteThe OSU people self should stop marrying their tribes or should be getting married to one another, to avoid this kind of heartache, because I don't think this tradition will end till Jesus comes.
ReplyDeleteWe waved it off in my family and allowed my sister to marry one. Strange family, mean… probably because of what they suffer from the rest of the society. He’s from a different state but we are all from SE. He was and still is very rich but my sister died because she was sick and didn’t get medical care early. It was a very unhappy marriage and sadly she died there.
ReplyDeleteHe refused to take care of her when she was ill? You mean he didn't love her?
DeleteThis is heartbreaking. My sister, please take heart. draw close to God and pray he gives you your own husband cos that man is not your husband. Please stay strong. It is well with you and anyone going to one rejection or the other.
ReplyDeleteAbeg
