Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State on Thursday, December 12, sacked the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Abdullahi Baffa Bichi. He also scrapped the office of the Chief of Staff, which until now was occupied by Alh. Shehu Wada Sagagi. The governor said the former SSG was “dropped on health grounds.”

 After 35 years of active service to the country, the military on Thursday, retired 656 senior non-commissioned officers, SNCOs, after subjecting them to a six-month demilitarization training. The retirees were disengaged from service at the Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre, NAFRC, Oshodi, amid fanfare.

 Ahead of future elections in the country, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has recommended the use of computer-generated voting slips by those who do not have the Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs. Speaking, on Thursday, in Abuja, INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu said PVCs should no longer be the sole requirement for voting, especially with the introduction of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, BVAS.

 The Senate has urged the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Mr Nyesom Wike to stop further demolition of structures in the nation’s Capital Territory. According to the Senate, the FCT Minister can only pull down those structures ordered for demolition by a competent court of jurisdiction, pending investigation of its ad-hoc committee.
