Rivers State governor, Sir Siminialayi Fubara, has vowed to continue defending the mandate freely given to him by the people. The governor said the interest of the people was important to his administration. Fubara spoke at the Funeral Service of Mrs Erefori Basi Maeba, mother of Senator Lee Maeba.



 Sequel to the Friday advice by Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Olayemi Cardoso to bank customers to report any difficulties in withdrawing cash from bank branches or ATMs to the apex bank from today, CBN officials are commencing immediate spot checks on bank branches across the country. Cardoso urged customers to make reports through designated phone numbers and email addresses for their respective states.

 The Anambra State Police Command has foiled a kidnapping attempt by a gang suspected to be members of a secessionist group. In a statement on Saturday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed that one suspect was killed during a gun battle, while others fled with gunshot wounds.

A man identified as Fatai Hamzat has been found dead in his apartment on Oremeji Street, Ijeun Tuntun, Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital. The Ogun State Police Command informed journalists on Saturday that Hamzat’s body was discovered around 7am on Friday.

 A herbalist identified as Ismail Usman has sustained a life-threatening injury while testing a self-made ‘bulletproof’ charm. The incident occurred at the Kuchibuyi village in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, on November 23. Usman was said to have picked a locally fabricated gun after he had fortified himself with the charm he had prepared and shot himself in the stomach.

 The Port Harcourt Refining Company has halted operations just days after the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Ltd revealed that it had fulfilled its pledge of re-streaming the facility. The shocking development was discovered by a reporter who visited the refinery where it was observed that the facility was inactive, with no discernible signs of operation.
