I didn’t bother getting him a cake last year because he doesn’t eat cake normally, but this time around, things were different. Several months to his birthday, he asked for the specific days left, it was around two hundred days then and he judiciously counted down and would even correct me if I made mistakes with the number of days left.
For his birthday, he picked out the exact gift he wanted. He showed me the particular balloons, confetti popper, and the scalloped shaped cake he wanted. He would ask for permission every time we went to the supermarket to go to the party supplies section, where he would point out all he wanted.
He wanted his aunties around, too, and wanted his party to start only after he was back from football practice. The level of detailed planning he did surprised me but also spurred me on to make sure I gave him the best and also everything he wanted.
He had a blast on his birthday and even tasted a tiny bit of the cake, I watched his face scrunch up when he tasted it because of his food aversion. The next day, I cut up a frozen piece of the cake to eat because I like it like that. He tasted another piece, and he loved the frozen texture.
He has been asking for a piece every now and then, and it has become his regular frozen treat. My little baby is becoming a big boy, and this mama is proud of him.

My first son’s birthday happened days ago. I have a room full of original and expensive stars wars toys..I refuse to throw them away cos if i calculate the money i dey get headache, I also refused to give them out as gifts, even though i have gifted out a few to their old kindergarten....
Years back i saw where my mum in law stored all my husbands toys and i asked why she didnt give them out and she said they were expensive and you wont find those types again...I squeezed my face and told my hubby that his mum is stingy..My kids refused to play with their father toys and wanted theirs.....Now i refuse to let the toys go...I now understand....
I hate sweet cake....

When everything is perfect.
You overlook everything you dislike about each other.
You're excited about your life together
You want to serve each other unconditionally
Stage 2:
When they start to irritate you
You start to notice each other's imperfections
You start yelling and arguing with each other, even at the smallest of things
You resent, complain, and criticize each other
You start to question the Marriage.
Stage 3:
You're stuck at it and pushed through it together
Now you understand how each other works
This is where you experience true love
You recognize each other's strengths and weaknesses and accept it about them
Sadly, most marriages lose it at stage 2
Or Stage 2 got so out of control that at Stage 3, they've zoned out and just passing the days....
