This ruling stems from Hundeyin's 2022 publications on platforms such as Substack and Twitter (now X), where he alleged workplace misconduct by Northcott during the production of the Sex for Grades documentary. Hundeyin claimed that Northcott had exploited his position to favor Emmy-nominated journalist Kiki Mordi over another contributor, Oge Obi, and accused him of soliciting inappropriate favors.
The court dismissed these allegations as unsubstantiated and harmful.
The judgment, delivered in October 2024, also criticized Hundeyin's refusal to remove the defamatory content despite prior court orders. His actions, including an online campaign targeting Northcott, were deemed aggravated, significantly worsening the reputational and emotional harm caused to the BBC journalist.
The court mandated Hundeyin to retract the claims and issued additional remedies under the UK Defamation Act
