from facts daily
Whatever happened to Bakassi boys? Someone please tell us.
ReplyDeleteThey became corrupted. Turned out to be worse than the evil they were trying to fight.
DeleteThis, coupled with an internal power tussle among their leaders, eventually led to their downfall.
I rem the story
DeleteThat story makes me fear that year.
ReplyDeleteJesus! Killed 90 People, ππΎππΎ what a story hehehehe, I think they told us the story but I can't even remember sefπ
ReplyDeleteI heard this story then. He had one popular name which I have forgotten.
ReplyDeleteEddy Nawgu
DeleteEddy na Nawgu.
DeleteI still remember his story, it happened when I was still a kid, I think we still have people like Eddy in our society today disguising as pastors, God will expose all of them very soon
ReplyDeleteAmen π
DeleteWith enough torture, people will confess to whatever is suggested to them.
ReplyDeleteWhat evidence did these vigilante boys have except hearsay? Not a strand of circumstantial evidence. Yet they trespassed on his property, kidnapped him, tortured him, murdered him and finally mistreated his corpse. In every way, they proved to be far worse than this man, no matter how evil they claim he was and they provide the evidence of their evil for free.
Eddy's apprentice spotted, I know you have your own branch somewhere but aka ga akparu gi very soon.
DeleteKpuchie onu gi there. Always yarning dust to sound woke. Anakogheri.com. Anu mpama
DeleteI just hope the accusation was true because under torture, people will confess to have done what hasn’t even happened.

ReplyDeleteThe Bakassi Boys indeed had a significant impact on crime reduction in the southeastern parts of Nigeria, particularly in areas like Onitsha. This vigilante group emerged in response to widespread insecurity, filling a gap where official law enforcement struggled to maintain order. Through their unique methods, often extreme, they managed to curtail crime significantly, especially during a period when robberies and violent crimes were rampant. They became almost like a parallel government, with their own rules and methods for maintaining law and order.
ReplyDeleteWhile their presence brought a level of safety and security to the region, their tactics were controversial, as they were sometimes seen as overly brutal. Nonetheless, they’re credited with transforming Onitsha and similar areas by making them safer, thus enabling businesses and communities to flourish. Their impact remains part of the social memory in these regions, reflecting both their effectiveness and the complexities of relying on vigilantism for public order.
Do they still exist?
I remembered the it from the movie then
DeleteIssakaba boys
Bakassi boys cured Aba and eliminated mafia boys
ReplyDeleteThose mafia boys were so terrible that they could ask a full fledged man to remove everything he had on to boxers(pant in those days), to stark nakedness
If your shoe is fine they take it
If your shirt is fine they take it
They stole in broad daylight and darkness
They maimed many
Mothers didn’t let their daughters immediately after school
It was a menace
Bakaasi came and clipped their wings
Came and did a sweep operation, the ones they captured didn’t return
Weeks later ,bakaasi came and did something on the major streets in aba and announced that any member of mafia that ever steps his feet in aba will die,as they’ve ran they should continue running
Well over 10years later, one of the mafia boys that ran away returned. I think his family sent him abroad,he came back and came to aba. He lived close to us,his name was Leo. He was to marry,he didn’t return
He slept and didn’t wake up
He died.
Anyone of them that came back to aba died.
Wow!
DeleteWOW π³
ReplyDeleteNawoa!
ReplyDeleteSo barbaric πππ
ReplyDeleteI can never forget that day.
ReplyDeleteI was coming back to Onitsha from Benin, the kind of traffic we met at the bridge was something else. Everybody has to come down and trek either from Asaba end to Onitsha or vice versa.
The whole city assembled at Ochanja round about, come and see jubilation every corner, out of curiosity, I decided to get to the venue to see things for myself too.
Bakassi boys then, they always kill at a T-junction by chopping off heads once, they dont miss it. They will proceed to cut the body into parts and set everything ablaze. If you're a criminal or evil doers who have killed people through any means both diabolical , just get ready to pay the price.
ReplyDeleteOnce, their charm shows red, the person is a goner.
I witnessed the killing of Eddy ngwu at ochanja round about. he was burnt to ashes in a flash.
Onitsha was so peaceful and calm then, you can carry your Ghana must go bag loaded with money and walk around at any time with any form of fear of robbers.
How they corrupted them, I don't know. I wanted to write my project on them but my lecturer refused then and my mother was just begging me not to go there.
The Bakassi Boys were usually armed with machetes and guns, and wear an array of black magic artifacts and Juju around their body.[6] They operate in the Igbo areas of Nigeria and have been accused of extrajudicial killings[7] of suspected petty thieves, armed robbers, ritual killers, murderers, corrupt persons, and generally anyone they considered evil.[8] The manner in which they determined if one was evil or not was allegedly by the use of dark magic, in which they placed a silver-colored machete[9][3] on the chest of any suspicious person, and if the machete's color changed from silver to blood red it meant the person had committed a heinous crime at some point in their life, and such a person would be killed immediately.
ReplyDeleteIn the south-eastern part of Nigeria, especially Anambra State, they still enjoy popular support in the areas where they operate because certain problems in the region have greatly decreased since the inception of the vigilante group in 1998.[10] According to publications by various Nigerian media houses, they had an alleged magical immunity to gunshots.[1][11][12] This metaphysical power was referred to as Odeshi amongst the Igbo people of Nigeria.[13] Odeshi is an Igbo word that loosely translates to "it does not leak" or "it would not leak",[14] which was used to mean that they were impervious to gunshot.
In secondary school back in the day when a nutty student is being flogged during assembly...odeshi! Odeshi! The student must not cry
DeleteHmmm.............what if he confessed because of too much torture and probably he was innocent afterall....?π€π€
ReplyDeleteWhere are the Bakassi boys now sef, maybe they would have helped with the endless kidnapping in the south east regions.
Not at all my dear...
DeleteBefore he died that day, he told people to tell his followers and clients to return his staff to avoid having problems.
Eddy Nanogwu
ReplyDeleteHmmm those days, the fear of bakassi boys was the beginning of wisdom.
ReplyDeleteWe all know that ppl will confess under torture and duress. How does anyone know if the confession was true if he was beaten to a pulp first. I don’t know about this one. I ain’t saying he was innocent but when the spirit of confession gets a hold of someone it does not require them to be beaten black and blue before they confess.
ReplyDeleteWOW...
ReplyDeleteBakassi boys then ehen chaiii.
Hello iya Boys
