President Tinubu Rejects NEC And Tells Them To Allow The Tax Reform Bill To Go Through Legislative Process

President Bola Tinubu through a statement issues by his media aide Bayo Onanuga has insisted that the Proposed Tax Reforms Bill currently at the National Assembly will go through legislative processes.

The National Economic Council, NEC had advised the executive to withdraw the bill from the National Assembly.
The advice came amid a stiff opposition from some stakeholders in the north, who stated that the proposed tax reforms bill is against the region and should be withdrawn.

Reacting, Onanuga said those with any form of misgivings in regards to the bill should come forward with their inputs during public hearings.

“President Tinubu commends the National Economic Council members, especially Vice President Kashim Shettima and the 36 State Governors, for their advice.
“He believes that the legislative process, which has already begun, provides an opportunity for inputs and necessary changes without withdrawing the bills from the National Assembly.
“While urging the NEC to allow the process to take its full course, President Tinubu welcomes further consultations and engagement with key stakeholders to address any reservations about the bills while the National Assembly considers them for passage”, the statement added.

  3. Why are they kicking against the bill? I pray Tinubu will not step down for them. Nigerian governors should know it's no longer business of looting the state treasury dry as usual. If you don't work you won't chop. They should go and develop their individual State, create jobs through industrialization, build good roads to lure investors into the state. Ensure the state can generate their own power supply, encourage the youths to start large scale farming, give loan and incentives to farmers, etc. By doing all these the pressure on the federal government will reduce. The Northern governors and traditional rulers should no it's time to wake up and send those bandits out of their forest to enable their people farm and state government too can start mining all their gold and precious Stones
