President Tinubu Orders Release Of Minors Detained For Participating In Protests

President Bola Tinubu has ordered the release of all minors detained for participating in #EndBadGovernance protests, which took place across Nigeria in August 2024.

The order came after significant public outcry and criticism from human rights organizations, including Amnesty International, due to reports that some detained minors had fainted in court during proceedings.
Following Tinubu's directive, the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction was tasked with ensuring that the minors are safely reunited with their families and provided with the necessary support. Additionally, a committee is expected to investigate the conduct of officials involved in the minors' detention and prosecution, with potential disciplinary action for those found to have acted improperly.
The #EndBadGovernance protests were initially sparked by widespread frustration over economic hardships attributed to Tinubu's policies, including the removal of fuel subsidies. While most of the demonstrations were peaceful, there were instances of police intervention, which led to numerous arrests across the country

Counselling, rehabilitating and educating the children/underaged protesters; making the protest demands come into reality (hunger & bad governance, police manhandling etc); genuine & responsible public prosecution department etc etc Our talk should be backed by positive actions.
