The Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) has highlighted that the price of petrol from the old Port Harcourt Refinery, which recently resumed production, is ₦75 per litre higher than that sold by the Dangote Refinery.
PETROAN's National Public Relations Officer, Dr. Joseph Obele, mentioned that while the restoration of the Port Harcourt Refinery is a positive step towards reducing Nigeria's reliance on imported petroleum products, the pricing disparity needs to be addressed to alleviate the burden on both marketers and consumers...

ReplyDeleteIt is to be expected. Quantity is a quality on its own. By sheer volume, Dangote refinery is uniquely positioned to produce at a cheaper rate. Port Harcourt refinery is an old refinery. Not everything can be replaced. A good number of critical machinery it has are quire dated. Dangote has more modern equipment plus one of the largest CCUs in the world, his cost of production is cheaper than even some refineries in Europe. All things considered, it will be hard to beat Dangotes pricing.

The competition would have brought the pump price of petrol down.
15:56, what stopped the other competitors from applying and getting the licence? Did anybody hold their hands? Did u or anybody hear or read anywhr that there is another private business man/woman that applied for the licence to build a refinery n they were denied by the govt?
