The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested two Chinese nationals, Wang Jiang and Wang Richard, along with Nigerians, Donatus Agupusi and Michael Agu, for attempting to export solid minerals without the necessary permits. Detectives of the Kwara State police command, have recovered the severed head of the Okada rider, Rafiu Akao, who was murdered by three assailants.
The severed head was thrown into a nearby stream after the bloody act, at Asunlere community in Oke-Oyi town of Ilorin East Local Government Area of Kwara State.
A statement by the spokesperson of the police command, DSP Ejire Adeyemi Toun in Ilorin, on Friday, disclosed that “investigators at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Ilorin, recovered the dismembered part of the remains of late Rafiu Akao (M) 34yrs who was brutally murdered by Peter Samuel (M), Jeremiah Tiozinda (M), and Sunday Agbenke (M) on 4th November, 2024.
“All three suspects have confessed to the crime, with the motive to dispossess the late Rafiu of his commercial motorcycle.
“Sunday Agbenke gave out the phone contact of the motorcycle rider to Peter Samuel to lure him to an undisclosed location.
“While on their way, the rider was stopped that Peter Samuel wanted to ease himself, giving way for Jeremiah Tiozinda to hit him on the head with a stick.
“The rider fell off his motorcycle to the ground, he further struggled to escape but was eventually overpowered by Peter Samuel and Jeremiah Tiozinda.
“Peter Samuel brought out a cutlass and severed the head, while Jeremiah Tiozinda threw the dismembered part and cutlass into the stream dashing away with his motorcycle.”
The police said the noise of the dastardly act caught the ears of the Vigilante on patrol, who gave them a hot chase and the culprits abandoned the motorcycle and fled into the bush.
“Unfortunately, the mobile phone of Peter Samuel fell off at the scene of crime, leading to their arrest by police detectives.
“The suspects will be arraigned in court as soon as investigations have been concluded,” the statement added.

The outgoing Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki has alleged that the All Progressives Congress, APC, is borrowing between N2 billion and N5 billion to finance the inauguration of the new governor.
Obaseki, who disclosed this at the inauguration of 10-man caretaker committee members of the State’s PDP in Benin City on Friday, however, lamented that the outgoing government was not carried along nor invited for the inauguration.
