Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has vowed that no amount of protest can stop the bid to sanitise the nation’s capital. Speaking when he visited a demolished settlement in Lugbe, the Minister, who was accompanied by top security chiefs in the territory, said there was no going back in the exercise, adding that the settlement had been identified as a security threat.


A Kebbi State delegation dispatched by Governor Nasir Idris has met with Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, pleading with him to flush out the new terror group, Lukarawas from the state. Chief Press Secretary to governor Ahmed Idris, who made this known, said in a statement that the CDS promised the delegation that the military would take necessary action.

 The newly appointed minister of State, Housing and Urban Development, Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, has said his mission is to deliver Kano State to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027. Ata made this known shortly after his maiden visit to Kano after being sworn into the Federal Executive Council.

 The Presidency on Sunday accused former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of being envious of President Bola Tinubu, especially as he failed repeatedly to clinch the position after several attempts. Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, made the allegation on Sunday, a development that has heightened the political rift between both parties.

 The Nigeria Labour Congress has given state governments an ultimatum of December 1, 2024, to implement the new minimum wage. It also accused fuel marketers of inflating petrol prices, claiming the pump price is significantly higher than the actual market value. The NLC contended that Nigerians were being exploited, with citizens enduring heightened suffering and hunger due to government policies which keep pushing many into destitution.

 The total debt of Nigerian states has risen to N11.47tn as of June 30, 2024 despite higher allocations from the Federation Account Allocation Committee. This is according to an analysis of data from the public debt reports released by the Debt Management Office.

 The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a man, identified as Olubunmi Johnson, for allegedly setting his wife, Kikelomo, on fire in their apartment on Fagbuyi Street, Ilogbo, in the Ota area of Ogun State. It was learnt from an eyewitness on Saturday evening that the incident took place around 8:30 p.m. on Friday, following a domestic dispute.

About two people have been killed in Ogwor, a community in the Ishiagu clan, in the Ivo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State. It was gathered that three others were said to have remained missing as of Sunday evening. An elderly woman from the area and a labourer, who was helping to cultivate her farmland, were said to have been killed by the assailants.

 The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) has said that the epileptic energy sector in Nigeria is severely hindering the growth of the nation’s industrial sector and its ability to attract investments and create jobs. President of MAN, Francis Meshioye, who stated this at a media briefing in Lagos, highlighted the major challenges in the country’s energy landscape as inadequate power supply, unreliable energy infrastructure, and high electricity tariffs.

 The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has urged Nigerian judges, particularly justices of the Supreme Court to administer justice with the fear of God. Sanusi made the call at a public discourse in Lagos with the theme, “Ethics, Morality And The Law,” charging them to remember that they are accountable to God.

The Association of Nigerian Private Medical Practitioners, ANPMP, says private hospitals in Nigeria are folding up due to the ravaging economic downturn.
It also revealed that the nation’s economic situation has forced several Nigerians into self medication, resulting in organ failure and subsequently, death.
ANPMP’s Chairman, Dr Odia Festus Ihongbe in an exclusive interview with DAILY POST, weekend, in Abuja, said that morgues were being filled up with dead bodies, while hospital beds were empty.
According to him, “people come only when it becomes critical and they just want you to do magic. And some want to die in the hospital, maybe because of confusion in their families.”
Dr Odia revealed that Nigerians now google their symptoms and buy “drugs from chemists until it gets to the terminal stage.

  1. I'm not against any demolitions or to sanitise the nation's capital according to Wike, but my concern is about the affected people, any plans for them?
    I saw a video this morning posted by VDM at about 12am, the people affected are sleeping on the road, children and elderly people, it breaks my heart big time.
