The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it has deployed 4,002 Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machines for Saturday’s governorship election in Ondo State.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Ondo State, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Babalola, disclosed this on Friday in Akure, the state capital.



 The Supreme Court on Friday declared it would not allow itself to be used by politicians to shield corruption.
It dismissed a bid by 19 states of the federation to invalidate the establishment of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), and the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU).

The National Judicial Council (NJC) on Friday wielded its big stick against the Chief Judge of Imo State, Justice T. E. Chukwuemeka Chikeka, and the Grand Kadi of Yobe State, Kadi Babagana Mahdi, for age falsification.
They were recommended for compulsory retirement.

. Operatives of the Zone 2 Police Command, Onikan, Lagos, rejected a $100,000 bribe (approximately N174 million) offered by a 28-year-old suspected internet fraudster, Patrick Akpoguma.
The suspect, who is accused of involvement in internet fraud, including romance scams, cryptocurrency fraud, and identity theft, was arrested after a detailed investigation.

 The Enugu State Police Command on Friday paraded two suspects linked to the killing of the Chairman of Ogbete Main Market Traders Association, Stephen Aniagu, on September 14, 2024.
The suspects, Chukwudi Aboshi and Ani Ebuka (also known as “Excellent”), confessed to the crime during their parade at the state police headquarters.

 The Osun State Police Command has announced the arrest of at least 20 suspected criminals for various offenses across the state.
Presenting the suspects to journalists on Friday, the command’s spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, revealed that armed robbery suspects Olajide Kareem, 28, Mike Emmanuel, 33, and Godwin Emmanuel, 23, were apprehended along the Ilesha-Osu Road.

A move by Olusola Ebiseni to present himself as the authentic candidate suffered a setback as the Court of Appeal directed INEC to remove his name.

 A 32-year-old man, Onyiuke Nwedeogu, allegedly set himself ablaze after a misunderstanding with his wife in Ndiechi Igbeagu, Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State. Reports on Friday revealed that the couple had a conflict last Sunday morning, during which Onyiuke had an altercation with his wife, Felicia Nwedeogu, leading to physical abuse.
