Kuti blasted the activist while recounting how he disagreed with her stance on women’s freedom during a TV show.
Seun in a post on his official X page said
“It’s the Africanness in us that is helping your European behaviour. That is why Aisha Yesufu and I engaged in an argument on TV, she wan dey talk anyhow, and I told her father off.
“Once you are a Christian or Muslim, you have abandoned Africanness. That one tied hijab saying she wanted to liberate Nigerian women. M**herf**ker liberates yourself from your Hijab first.”

ReplyDeleteDisgraceful take!!! 🙄
ReplyDeleteThe assumption that women with hijabs or nun capes are less enlightened than those rocking hot pants is arrogant at best. What does her mode of dressing have to do with her intellectual capability? Kai! I'm so done with these primitive misogynists. Mtsheeeew 😒
I actually interpreted his words to mean that anyone who practices Christianity or Islam are under some kind of external control, as both these religions and ideologies were developed off the continent and implemented through colonization. Seems like he feels only ppl who practice a traditional African religion can speak freely about Africanism.
DeleteYeye man
ReplyDeleteAisha don reply her

ReplyDeleteAnon 20:09 God bless you. Yours was the only sensible comment on this thread.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree with you.
DeleteBig mouth Seun goofed as usual, but you see most of those hailing loud mouthed Aisha's distasteful clapback are her political party supporters and this new generation of VDM where decency does not seem to matter; we usually don't support such rhetoric but i am surprised to see all the support for her response
