She said Ikwechegh is “at the Maitama Police Station undergoing questioning”.
The Police spokesperson explained in the statement that the cab driver, Stephen Abuwatseya, reported the matter to the Command.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that Mr. Abuwatseya was delivering a package to Hon. Ikwechegh when a dispute arose concerning the method of delivery. During this altercation, Mr. Abuwatseya was reportedly physically assaulted.
“The FCT Police Command expresses grave concern over Hon. Ikwechegh’s dismissive attitude toward the office of the Inspector General of Police following the incident.
“After allegedly slapping the victim, he reportedly remarked with contempt, ‘You can go ahead and call the Inspector General of Police,’ demonstrating a troubling disregard for the authority of law enforcement.
“Currently, the suspect is at the Maitama Police Station undergoing questioning,” the statement read.
The statement added that the Commissioner of Police in the FCT, Olatunji Disu, has mandated a thorough investigation into the matter.
“The Command is committed to conducting an impartial investigation and ensuring justice in all cases. Upon completion of the investigation, appropriate legal action will be taken.”

ReplyDeleteWhat about Portable that assaulted someone last week.
DeleteHe should be arrested too
NPF take note
Hope no one experiences a person who gas lights/provokes, then secretly films/,records when u react in anger.
DeletePeope say a lot of things when angry that they dont mean and they wont actually do.
The light skinned guy wasn't right, and the disproportionate social media reaction instigated by the innocent driver, isn't right either. It seems like fairytale until you get to experience it.
Bolt services in Abuja is cheap when compared to lagos. Delivery services are even far cheaper.
The innocent driver shouldn't have escalated things to this extent even as he has never reacted in anger before. He should make allowance for people who aren't as perfect as him as we live in an imperfect world.
Aiming to destroy a fellow guy for a 3 to 5k delivery service. Enjoy the high and the clout 4 now, , na for inside this same life u go understand
Anon, it seems you're the only one that understands the matter. I believe this handsome man has learnt a lesson. Too bad he lost control
DeleteWhat on earth are you talking about. Did you watch the video and see where the Maacot said he was aware he was being videotaped
DeleteBecause delivery is cheap, the bolt driver should be assaulted ?
A lawmaker assaulting people that he should be protecting thier interest. If you use your position to oppress the poor masses then you are not fit to hold power
Even the bible talks about defending the poor
So please think again about what you just wrote
Way to go. Nobody should be above the law. No matter the provocation, learn to control your utterances and hands. 🙄🙄🙄
ReplyDeleteRight! Self control is key
DeleteAfter watching the video this morning, I was just shaking my head on behalf of " ONYE OCHA N'ABA".
ReplyDeleteHe goofed big time!
Small rat ko!
Big rat ni!
Nonsenseeeeeeeeeee!
You can imagine the way he will e treating his domestic staff and even his wife,if he is married self
DeleteTwitter churen are tagging every handle. Even United Nations and President Tinubu hates such shocking moves with international bodies.
DeleteThat Bolt guy is POLISHED! Lawd!🤝
When they settle this brouhaha,he needs scans and medical tests because he's mortified 🥺🙆
@ XP... I agree with you. The bolt guy is very smart too. He was asking him questions and 'HON' was answering him while digging his own grave. He played him into his hands 😂
DeleteHON OLODO!
1.Hazards of delivery business. 2. Adults having a misunderstanding till one decoded to secretly record.
DeleteNetizens can be hypocrites majoring in the minors.
If I didn't spend time reading verbal altercations here and elsewhere and the way derogatory words are thrown with promises to wotowoto (violence) when they see offline I would have said they have the best manners, well cultured, polite and thoughtful people. Hian.
This is a case of two people having an argument and one loosing temper and throwing verbal jabs, which, mind you, happens million times a day but pipu sensationalised this one. Looking like an agenda (yes agendas dey if no be gender, gay, e go be religion, or tribalism or rich vs poor automatically means rich is evil. etc etc do many agenda etc.
From the clip, he insulted the guy then maybe pushed him. The driver later claimed that his shirt was removed and he was slapped (I didn't see itsha).
Suddenly everybody is asking for the head of the guy.
See I can't count number of times I have used jokes to deescalate such issues. There was a day I even lost my voice and decided to mellow. These things happen a lot Especially when using public transport and u know how drivers get mouth.
The way the story is trending, abi is not food delivery gone wrong again?
Anyway we hope justice is blind to this emotional frenzy. And whatever the result, it will not reduce anybody stress in these tpain times. Kpatakpata go fund me for the innocent driver
They should use him as a scapegoat
ReplyDeleteAkuku no be Niger we dey
ReplyDeletePatapata they will tell Honourable to Apologize to The Driver , then case close..
Hello iya Boys

Serves him right
ReplyDeleteNonsense and ingredients mtcheew 😙
Nice one 👍👍
ReplyDeleteHe is not above the law
This one village People don catch up with am. He might not continue as a lawmaker next term
ReplyDeleteI think he was high on the dusty white shit hence his behaviour plus he was intimidated with the driver composure and confidence . The mascot is a WAEC holder even as a HOR member and here is a driver better educated than he was ...lol hence his display of power to subdue .
ReplyDeleteOne efulefu is defending him on twitter that it’s a set up by opposition party and he fell for it, can you imagine? I just hope he will seriously be dealt with? Cos 9ja matter dey tire me abeg! Telling the bolt driver he will disappear him and notching will happen, only God knows how many people he has disappeared since he gained power .. wicked soul
ReplyDeleteThe way you used “disappear” as a verb in your comment is grammatically incorrect. There’s nothing like I will disappear you.
DeleteVery white man will learn a lesson never to oppress.
ReplyDeleteLol
DeleteYou win the comment section for the day..lol
DeleteI just watched this video now and I kept answering his repeated question "do u know who I am? Who u be oga? Hoping he'll hear me.
ReplyDeleteI saw no disrespect in what d uber man did o. For security reasons these days,I no fit do delivery inside ur house o.what if i no make am alive?
He was that worked up simply because d uber man called him to come out and receive his package OUTSIDE and payhim.
NA WAO, SOME PEOPLE THEM TOO DO OO.
@Bank alert
So true.
DeleteI don't even trust Nigeria police men?
ReplyDeleteThe victim has a cause of action under the civil law, in addition to the criminal charge the Police could bring against the perpetrator. He can file fundamental rights enforcement action and claim substantial damages.
DeleteWhat he said about the IG is not grounds for anything
ReplyDeleteThe issue is how he treated the driver
Trust Nigerians to leave the matter at hand and pursue rubbish. Instead of addressing the main issue, they are saying inspector general bla bla bla
DeleteI pray they use him as scape goat
ReplyDeleteNa wa o!!!! See how God has brought destiny helper for the bolt driver. After Alex is taken to court he can use the 50 million Naira he initially said he will pay to make the bolt driver disappear to pay for compensation or out of court settlement. At least that way money no go miss road. Bolt driver will be smiling to the bank
ReplyDeleteNiaja police, please do your work.
ReplyDeleteHe should be charged for Assault
ReplyDeleteI saw the video and i am ashamed on his behalf, the man did not behave well at all. I pity his domestic staff.
ReplyDeleteBolt driver welldone for your composure and for the video if not we for no get evidence.
Trust najia politicians, by now his friends/associates, etc would have reached the bolt driver begging him to soft pedal, promising him heaven and earth. I wish he can be punished. A similar thing happened in UK too and the man has been suspended.
ReplyDeleteWhen you are fine and educated but you have no discipline to keep your hands to yourself and no discipline to tame your tongue.
ReplyDeleteSo many fine and educated people with zero class
This one is fine? Lollll. I marvel at you people's tastes at times.
DeleteBut not surprised.
On the contrary, he has not been arrested.
