PINKYS CORNER

On Tuesday last week, something funny but emotional happened in class during statistics lecture. The Dr in charge of the course knows it quite well but the problem is, he doesn't know how to pass the knowledge across. The lecture started from regression analysis model, down to correlation coefficient (parametric and non parametric). People began to murmur because the thing has become a magic and they were not finding it easy again.
Being the course rep, I'm always into creating time to do tutorials both physical and virtual in order to help explain better those courses since the lecturers don't have time to go deeply. I'm not faulting the lecturers because as a Master's student, you don't expect professors to come to class and spoon feed you.
You should be able to help yourself by making more findings and study extensively.
To cut the long story short. The Dr came in and started the calculations and use of terms as usual (T-test, chi square, anova , covariance etc). The man didn't even explain better , he was just busy doing calculations on the board and we wey understand dey follow up and giving response on the next step.

Suddenly, this young lady in my class began to cry . Everyone just focused on her and the lecturer no even mind . After doing his magic on the board, he said "good day".

I stood up and moved closer to her to know what's wrong, then she burst into another tears before explaining how bad it is for her to understand what the man was doing . She was like "ti nba mo, ma ti losi adult education ooo". I had to calm her down and promised to help out. On Wednesdays, our lectures starts by 11am, but I left home around 8am to fulfill my promise and I took 7 of them . I taught them from simple to complex and known to unknown.
They were all happy there after.
The reason for bringing this here is, as a student (either PG or undergraduate ) don't always expect too much from lecturers because most of them don't have time to break down their teachings and also, some of them doesn't even know how to use two or more teaching techniques and method to capture both the slow, average and fast learners.
In fact, some of them found themselves in academics by luck while some are just naturally wicked. A good example is one of my lecturer who said and I quote that "he got his phd in 13 years and one student is under him and wants to berge Phd in 3years. How possible? Can you imagine such mindset, he wants to suffer his student because of what he went through. Is that not wickedness? Our lecturers should do better . Another lecturer of mine said "Adeniji, I don't pray I make my student go through what his supervisor put him because he suffered"
You can imagine but seriously , don't expect much from lecturers. Learn to do personal study ahead and make more research in case they are fishing out yhe wrong thing.
Ire oooooo

Na for those wey read nau, some will use gbenshing pass

MADAM AMEBO CORNER....

I met two sisters in my shop last weel, both are married, but the elder sister is yet to bear kids while the other one has two kids but the younger sister is married to a very abusive husband.
She came with a lot of bandages on her body, they said her husband stabbed her with bottle and i was told what happened...
The woman who was so In love with her husband opened a joint account and made the husband a signatory to the account, they've been married for four years and this man has been jobless for that four years, to avoid see finish, she opened the account so he can have a free access to cash but this man no de see skirt comot eyes, he drives one of the woman's cars, he no de carry him wife or kids oo but can happily carry strangers...

Most of the woman's siblings live abroad, including the one that came with her to the bank, they said that one na international lawyer, so the international lawyer wanted to build something back home because she's yet to have kids and she fears that her husband may start messing up tomorrow, she needed something to fall back on...
She sent her sister about a 100million naira to start the project, plus over 20 something million in the account before, the husband tried to move the money but couldn't because they needed the wife's signature ( e be like say the woman had reported something to the bank), so the man froze the account, went home and beat her up, one of their son's tried saving his mom and this man hit his head so hard, the boy was hospitalized.

So since the woman had no access to her own account, she informed her siblings and the lady flew in to help, the man was arrested and the account was unfrozen, you needed to see the way that lady speaks with her constant burning of cigarettes, she provided every document needed to show them that she sent that money for a project and they opened the account, immediately they moved out every dime in that account.

The lady really loves her younger sister but I also observed that the younger sister is still in love with her abuser, the way she kept crying and saying I don't believe he can do this to me, I guess it's the love of money " , her statement just de vex me, she still feels something for him and I feel she might go back, I no too understand some of the grammar they spoke because they were both sobbing while speaking, both of them are drama queens cos wetin de make them cry so no reach to make person cry, God has given you victory, your money is intact, so why you de cry?
You're very beautiful, you don't look like a mother of two, so why you de cry? I pray she doesn't go back to that man because, abusive men don't change, they just change patterns and will not stop till it becomes fatal... Run when you can...

  1. BV Ostrich.

The word 'hardly' as used in my statement in SP is to describe the how narrow the margin is when comparing people who focus on legitimate businesses alone. It didn't rule out the fact that there are men who are hustling legitimately.

It will surprise you to know that many of them who do legitimate businesses still do yahoo business as one of their side hustles.

Many times, we have heard people say 'you can hardly find a virgin in this generation' it still doesn't change the fact that we have people out there who are virgins.

The word 'Hardly' and 'All' don't have thesame meaning. Or is there anything am not understanding in these English words?

The anon that said 'change your circles' please how do I change my circle? Lol. I want to learn. And how are you sure that non of those in your circle is into does yahoo yahoo as their side hustle and using the legitimate business you know as cover up ?

    1. Slim shady, there are actual more men with legitimate businesses compared to those doing yahoo. Using ‘hardly’ in that sentence is you saying it’s quite rare to see men with legitimate businesses.

    2. Eka, leave them, they go still argue

    3. Eka joy thank you

Slim shady, like I said before, your statement implies that in your compound, family, workplace, etc, 80% of the men there are into Yahoo, is that true? You didn't even say illegitimate businesses, you said "Yahoo" specifically.
You said we can hardly find any man who is not into Yahoo nowadays.
Believe whatever you believe, it might be your circle like that Anon said. Around me, there are more men who are into legitimate businesses, without adding illegitimate businesses to whatever they are doing.

      Have a beautiful week.

      Delete
    4. Hardly as used in that context is wrong. There are more men doing legit hustle than the ones doing fraud. It's the same as saying 8 in 10 men are fraudsters which isn't true.

      Delete
    5. Shady, you can't compare using "hardly" for virgins to using it for legitimate businesses. They are very wide apart. Using it for virgins is more appropriate than using it for legitimate businesses.
Yes we can hardly find complete virgins among young ladies nowadays but we have more men into legitimate businesses. So you cannot say we can hardly find a man into legitimate business these days. That statement is not right.

      Delete
    6. As a teacher, I understand that hardly means almost all. Meaning that it is very difficult to find one person that is not doing illegitimate business. That is not true, bv Slim Shady

The one that happened recently in my vicinity that beat the wife; he is full of pride and not even remorseful about what he did to her, telling people that he will marry another wife; imagine punching the wife in the presence of a neighbor's.
A man that refuses to work despite several job opportunities because of the $400k the wife earns monthly.

The wife has left him; he is now going about collecting credit "upandan"

  37. So when I got home from church yesterday, my mum told me a 5 years old boy just close to my street died. His birthday was supposed to be today and his birthday cake as at the time he was dead was still at the bakers shop (my neighbor).
Apparently, his mum left him at home ( don't know if there was an adult at home with him) to get drinks, biscuit, etc for his party pack gift.
He was always fond of jumping the balcony, he did and landed on the broken bottle fence in their compound with huge patches on his neck and died on the spot 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭πŸ₯±πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜

An unmarried lady who dies at 35yrs of age is considered young. You would hear "she was young"..."she died at a young age of 35"

So my beautiful single lady above 30, live your life and let God take the wheel, don't seek for validation and throw yourself into a dark tunnel because of world people.
Turn deaf ears to their hurting words because if anything happens to you today, they will say "she was so young".

  43. It's Man Crush Monday!!

I was surprised when lists of male bv's were being compiled and only one person remembered to mention 'Martins' says a lot about the mindset of some people. IMO Martins is the epitome of a correct man.

Men should be given breathing space to comment but must understand that peace comes when you stay out of women's business. Dante, your approach will make no difference as you stoop to the level of the thing you castigate every time you attempt to address it. Men cannot be seen to be exchanging words with females, that is not respectful behaviour. It shows a lack of self control. Your inability to communicate without insults puts you in the same category as the amotekuns you hold in disdain.

Teejay, lol. My wish for you is that you find yourself and stop looking for validation in the wrong places.

Eka, I like you. One man mopol. I get that you mostly respond to trolls however the comment to Oshodi DSS was unnecessary. You may not like this advice but protect your family, keep them away from these attacks.

  47. Good afternoon house
This transport fare hike has created many vacant shops around me. Many shop owners whose houses are very far from their place of business have moved out of their shops. Some now operate from their house while others got shops close to their house.
A woman beside me here who sells slippers and sandals told me she pays 2400 everyday for transport to and fro her house. This woman does not sell any shoe for days sometimes. I advised her to get even if it's an open space close to her house and erect a wooden structure to sell there. She refused..
She told me she has renewed her shop rent again last week.
    The Lord is her strength.

    Good afternoon everyone.

Stella sorry about the cold, it is well with you πŸ€—πŸ€—

Pinky I don't know why statistics lecturers lack patient, like some of them aren't good teachers. I'm speaking from the experience I had while in school. Mr Biodun our statistics lecturer can never explain how he arrived at the magic he performed on the board. Once you ask him questions, he'd carry his bag and leave the class. It was a terrible experience. I no kuku like maths for secondary School then I now come and jam this kind lecturer again.

Madam Amebo you see as that woman is making excuses for her horseband ba, e sure say she'll go back to the beating until he kpai her.

  58. Pinky, I loved statistics right form my secondary school. In higher institution I used to score good grades in that course, I loved it. Our lecturer was Good in explanation too.
The one that didn't know how to teach was accounting lecturer. He will just draw table on the board and fill it with figures, calculate and write the answers, then give us assignment fron the textbook that he sold to us. All of them wrote books and that is what they sold to their students.

  60. The ''Respect Women'' took me back memory lane. We had a neighbour whose husband almost killed her because she "couldn't take in'' I pitied her then, my mum & some other neighbours would be consoling her. I used to wish she would run away....as small as I was, I knew she was enduring a lot. One of their church member took her to those Ijaw people for native treatment months after months....yet nothing. She would be vomiting all sorts everyday...chai! women dey see something o. She later left sha, don't know what became of her and her husband too was posted outside Lagos. Sad indeed...
Or the one in my childhood church who birth 8 girls looking for a male child...and her girls are so beautiful. But hubby go outside go find male child and the end result was more female kids from his mistress. The man died as far back in 2003, she was left training the 8 kids...pls respect women, many are going thru what cannot be imagined.
