If you call it a decimation, a destruction, an annihilation, a whitewash, black and blue beating, you are definitely not wrong
Realmadrid dominated the first half with a plethora of chances but couldn't convert any of the chances into goals, the second half saw a different Barcelona team who converted 90 percent of their chances into winning goals.
Last night's game exposed what some of us complained about at the beginning of the season and that is Madrid's failure to replace Kroos, and Joselu, strengthening their defence came to the fore last night, the entire defence line was in shambles.
Mbappe played like an amateur last night, and was caught offside six times in the first half, he had two goals disallowed due to offsides, his positioning and timing were too amateur for a professional footballer of his caliber.
Vinicius' magic didn't work as he was trying to do way too much and then Ancellotti showed tactical weakness and naivety as well.
Not starting Modric, substituting Tchuameni, Camavinga very early in the second half was a total blunder as those guys were playing better...
Why allow Mbappe play that long?
We must give it to Hansi Flick of Barcelona for his tactical masterclass. He played a high line and delivered, bringing in Olmo at the point he did was just on point. Take a bow Hansi Flick!

Take a bow Lewandowski!!
Take a bow Pedri!!!
Let's keep our fingers crossed for the Liverpool vs Arsenal game today, and hoping we will equally see the best of football today.

Chelsea vs Newcastle will also make a good watch.
Manchester City grinding out result as usual.

Real Madrid were annihilated yesterday and fact it was at Bernabeu was adding salt, pepper and acid to the injury. Real Madrid, a collection of individual talents, great talents but don't play as a team. It's the individual talents and the pedigree the club has that keep propelling them. Meeting equally a team with great tallents and cohesion, what happened yesterday was inevitable.
ReplyDeleteVini Jr and Mbappe cost Madrid the match in the first half with each wanting to grace the front covers of the following day's newspapers as the "goal scorer in el classico" instead of passing the ball to who was better positioned and facing the goal post.
El Classico match has always been extimated to be watched by more than a billion of the world's population so every run, step, pass is analyzed.
I'm an advocate of playing as a team and winning as one irrespective of who's name is on the score sheet. Vini jr trying to insure his Ballon d'Or credentials and Mbappe trying to score his first El classico goal were wasteful and selfish Infront of goal in the first half.
That yesterday's loss cost them their 42 winning streak, stretched Barca's lead at the top above all dented their bragging rights and a dent also on their head-to-head match ups.
It's not the end of Real Madrid, it's just a match and 3 points. Madrid will bounce back. But the reverberations of the result will be talked about for a long time.
Play as a team and win as a team instead of chasing individual glory.
Please who can explain what el classico means, is it a tournament like laliga and premier League?
DeleteAnon, El Classici is any match between rival clubs like Real Madrid and Barcelona. They are rivals because they are in the same city I guess.
DeleteAnon, El classico is the match played between fierce rivals Barcelona and Real Madrid in any competition whether La Liga, Champions League or Spanish cup. I hope this helps
DeleteAnon 10:58, el classico is Spanish words which means "the classic " in English language.
DeleteIt is used when two la Liga gaints (Barcelona and Real Madrid) meets in a match.
El Classico is not a league but used when Barcelona and Real Madrid meet in La Liga, Champions league or any other match.
I hope this helps.
Thank you all, Cynthia, Mystic and Anon I now understand.
DeleteAdonbilibiv this.
DeleteSo huge
It was crazy. What an embarrassing situation at the Bernebeu last night.
ReplyDeleteI think the team is struggling, depending on individual brilliance which can't last and they think they can always have a come back. Every team is going through this phase, they will be fine.
Okoo, football lovers 🙄
ReplyDeleteUp bacca
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, I haven't recovered yet from the humiliation. I woke up in the middle of the night to see a barrage of WhatsApp messages from my friends who supports other clubs taunting me and it dawned on me again that Madrid were dismantled truly. Ancellotti needs to go please, enough of this over reliance on Individual performances and a sprinkle of Insha Allah
ReplyDeleteEeyah. Sorry. It happens.
