Dangote Refinery Slammed By Petroleum Marketers For Opposing Petrol Imports

Petroleum Oil marketers have faulted Dangote Refinery over its stance against the importation of Premium Motor Spirit (Petrol).

The President of the Petroleum Products Retail Outlet Owners Association, PETROAN, Bill Gillis-Harry, spoke in an interview on Channels Television on Monday and he said that no refiners, marketers or retailers have the locus standi to tell the Nigerian government to halt petrol imports.

He noted that every player in the oil and gas sector should be allowed to play freely in the industry for competition to thrive.
“I don’t think any refiner or importer or retail outlet owners have the locus to ask the Federal Government to stop attending to any part of the business.
“Every participant in the sector should be freely allowed to participate,”

Reports emerged that Dangote Refinery had asked an Abuja High Federal High Court to void petrol import licences to Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, and other petroleum marketers.
However, in an update, Dangote Group clarified that the case has been overtaken by events.

  3. That's Dangote for you. His capitalism is so extreme that he always wants monopoly of every industry he enters.

Notice how nobody is talking of Port Harcourt refinery anymore? The refinery that the government said will be fully operational several months ago.

Dangote came into the industry and the price of fuel rose from 600 to 1200 in few months.
The crude oil is gotten in Nigeria. You are refining in Nigeria. You are buying the crude in Naira.
Yet somehow the price of fuel keeps on increasing.

And now, he has the full support of Tinubu, so expect more increases in fuel...without any logical explanation.

The extreme greed of these business men have no bounds.

    1. If he is indeed greedy that is quite unfortunate. I hate monopolies because it’s the consumers who lose in the end.
